Has anybody had any experience with this brand of fuel? A few weeks ago, my local hobby shop was out of my usual Omega 15, so I opted to try it.

When I had about 20 ounces of the gallon left, my plane started performing very poorly, and I traced it back to bad fuel. so I purchased a fresh gallon of the same. Now I'm down to the last quarter of the bottle, and the same thing is happening. Its only been two weeks since I last used it, but I'm wondering if this brand of fuel has a bad reputation, or if I'm just lucky.

Storage is in the bottle, sealed, in my basement where the temperature is consistenly about 70 degrees. Note that in 4 years of flying, I have NEVER had a bottle of Omega 15 behave this way.

Anybody else?

Brad

An update and a bump. Saturday, another club member was having great difficulty keeping his Evolution 46 running. This engine has been well broken in, with 3-4 gallons of Omega 15 run through it. Recently, like me he purchased a gallon of the Patriot 2&4 stroke 15%. He opened the bottle last weekend. We tried adjusting the low end and changed the glow plug, all to no avail. Then we tried a tank full of my Omega 15, and his problems vanished. That makes a sample of 3 gallons of this fuel that have ALL gone bad. Somethings not right in River City.

I think you answered your question very well. Although I have never personally used this brand, I know there are good ones and bad ones. I use Omega primarily and have had great service from Morgan fuels in general. Some folks don't like the Cool Power brand but I have not had trouble with it either. (It's full synthetic and some people don't believe that's a good thing) Morgans makes them both. I have had very good luck with Morgans, Wildcat, Coopers, Byrons, Powermaster, and Magnum. There may be some others I am forgetting but I have never had problems from the ones named. I don't like to talk down fuels because it might be something I am doing wrong but these I haven't had any problems with at all. My current preference is Omega in my planes and Curtis Youngblood-Wildcat in my heli. Your mileage may vary.

Patriot fuel is made by Wildcat. I've had no issues running it in my engines. I run Patriot 15% supreme with additional castor added for my bushed engines.
