mithrandir -> UAV Jobs (10/31/2007 12:10:04 AM)

This is a great idea for a forum...
I would like to extend an invitation to all readers to please visit our employment page!
I have been looking for engineers for 3 years and have had little luck. But being as our
business is sort of overgrown models... I thought there might be some modelers out
there who frequent RCUniverse who might be qualified and want to work at such an
awesome company!!!

http://search9.smartsearchonline.com/generalatomics/jobs_asi/adhocjobsearch.asp

I think we currently have about 500 open positions...

It seems that every year, GA-ASI is voted top 10 aerospace companies to work at
in the Aviation Week polls.

We are the manufacturer and designers of the Predator and Predator B UAV's.
Another recent model is the Warrior built for the Army.. this is a 4000 pound Diesel
powered UAV!!!

Thanks Marc!! This will be a thread I frequent!!!!

I graduate a number of BS and MS Computer Engineering students every year who have build UAV flight control and payload systems for their senior projects/ MS thesis. You can see some of our stuff in the other post (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=6506905). These kids could slide right into a number of positions that were listed on the website and be productive the next day... We should talk!

Does your company work with current college students at all? When I did a search for internships, nothing came up. I'm a 19-year-old with a Private Pilot's Certificate, and I've been in R/C for 6 years. Finding a career opportunity that involves working with UAVs would be a dream come true! [:D]

I usually consider applicants for internships after they have finished their 2nd year....

Tired Old Man -> RE: UAV Jobs (10/31/2007 3:17:46 AM)

Check www.insitu.com for possible intern openings. We usually have several interns in various positions at any given time.

Mith,

I've talked with your company a couple of times after they contacted me but I was always "outbound" or "in service" when they called. Never heard anything back from them after that.

3DAP -> RE: UAV Jobs (10/31/2007 4:53:18 AM)

Send me a resume and I will forward it to the appropriate managers in addition to submitting to our HR dept.

I am looking for an FEA Engineer.
We are always looking for A&P's and Elec-Tech... 'specially those that will deploy to
some rather unsavory regions of the globe.

Need any NAS integration/regulation consultants?

Tired Old Man -> RE: UAV Jobs (11/17/2007 7:34:28 PM)

If I recall correctly, General Atomics has their primary manufacturing facility a bit east of San Diego, with operations centers in the Palmdale, CA area. If you're a ground crew typ you could expect to go play in a couple of "conflict" type areas. That's the nature of the work. ISR and uavs are not typically fields used much in the civilian world yet. Yet.

jerry atrik -> RE: UAV Jobs (11/28/2007 3:14:32 PM)

interesting thread. i work at a research company in san diego. quite a few of our engineers are ex-GA engineers. power plant specialists.

America is great - I can't imagine a french aerospace company hiring engineers on a RC forum.
I used to live in Canada when I was young and/so I also have the canadian citizenship - can I work in your company ?

Paul
