I like tugs because you can pack allot of detail and working features in them. The neatest one I saw that an acquaintance built had a detailed pilot house with a pilot and working wheel, lights inside and out and deck hands. It ran on a motorcycle battery and was scratch built. Took him months. I’m building the sterling Liberty ship now (56" hull) and I'm going to need a tug to go with it.

Hello!!!!
I like tugs because they have her own personality, they look strong, they seem so independent, you can add them a lot of details, sound, lights and they are fun to build

I have been an R/C airplane guy for many years.  I've had a Midwest Lobsterboat for a long time.

I really enjoy boats more and more.  I am surprised myself at my new found interest in tugboats.  They are just plain neat.  Maybe its because they are so strong or maybe its because they are utilitarian.  Why do people like Jeeps?  Because they are "do" vehicles.  A tug is the same.  It works for a living.

I recently completed a Midwest Liberty Tug.  I enjoyed putting in details because I knew that I'd have it for many years.

My Uncles Mister Darby pulls my dads 20' deep-vee boat along at a pretty god pace.  Thats really cool.  When I get around to building a tug I'm going to build a pulling machine.  I want to be able to pull around a 8'x4' barge full of gravel, and there is no reason why I wnt be able to do it wiht ahull like the Darby's.

Cheers,

Unlike most scale boats, Tugs in there RC version actually do something, What can a scale fiberglass play boat get done? Scale PT boats dont often fire anything, and ifso not of anyuse! RC tugs can do some haul.
even most speedboats dont have any real speed to them.
i love speed and tug, and anything done should be done right. Going for a icebreaker custom build soon, and it will be breaking ice!
