I am sure that everyone has their own reasons, but i was wondering why people enjoy building tug boats so much. They don't go fast, they aren't that good looking. Just wanted to know everyone's opinion. i think i like them because they are so "to scale".

It is a challenge to push barges, dead boats, basketballs, and other things that happen to be in the water ... 700 -900 pound pumpkins are tough...

Even barges can be unweildy when not tied on.

Ever try to push the barge forward with your tug tied sideways?
Its not easy,...

And I think the model looks pretty good on the water...

Tugs have appealing character.
Tugs look like they DO something.
Tugs perform strange and unlikley manoevers.
Tugs are good for rescuing broken down fast electrics.
Long after the fast electric has flattened all its batteries, the tug is still going.
Not good looking? Philistine!

Tugs are awesome! You can build anything from a slow moving steam powered version to a voit-schneider driven tractor tug that will turn on itself. Tugs have character and history what more could you want?

I build tugs because I like them. Why? Beats me, maybe the same reason I like fried chicken?
