I'm sorry to but in here but, what were you all looking for from Jack? I have only heard of him and know really nothing else. Did he mfg. kits, or was he a builder, or both?

he claimed to do both.

How so Evil? Lets look at this from my side of the story,.... I have done nearly everything possible ( thats polite and gentleman-like anyway for OVER 3 YEARS to try to resolve this with Jack to no such solution. If you know something I dont to help MY SITUATION, NOT JACK DEVINE'S , I all ears.
Lets see Evil... say you send me oh, I dont know, ..$800 to $900 in cash. Oh, I'll use it for just a little while and get it right back to you I'll tell you. Time goes by, you try calling me umpteen times, emailing me over and over, and I just pay you no mind and dont respond to any of your calls or emails. You would want you money back right? I say: Im going to send it to you next week. Next week comes and goes. You call or email me about 6 months later and I tell you:
ooops, sorry, I had a little trouble with something but Im going to send your money right back to you next week. You should have it by Friday.... THAT Friday comes and goes....
you see where I am heading with this? THATS what Ive been dealing with with Jack.
So Evil, tell me that you would just stand there and let me slap the crap out of you once every couple months and you do nothing about it??? I dont think so. You would want to skin my hide would you not? Thats what I thought. Enough is enough- Ive had it up to here with " dont come down on Jack like that- he's a good guy, etc.... Yeah, thats your opinion and you are welcome to it.Its not your money thats tied up, its MINE. I work too freaking hard to try and save money where and when I can to buy rc stuff as I can. As for me, Ive dealt with this way too long and I want some closure. Enough said!
John

You know there are avenues for your complaints, all of which involve the authorities, that if they saw your post could very well be interpreted as physical threats, be it you meant it that way or not.

Blathering on a web site doesn't do you much good.

I'm not saying Jack is in the right, I'm simply saying you have other avenues to take that work. Threatening him with "YUO HAVE 10 DAYS!!!!!!" is just silly.

JohnMcGowan....

I understand everything you wrote. I don't think Evil Merlin is the enemy here.

I fail to see the point of posting a notice here. After 3 years, I don't think your money will be returned nor do I think any notice here of legal action is necessary or productive.

If you were asking for advice, I would advise you to proceed without further notice. Since you're not asking, I'll just state the obvious. You're not getting help here, and you're interpreting opinions as attacks.

Good luck.
Dave Olson

Hello all. My name is Lee Robinson, and I am ROBINAIRE. I have been building custom retracts and fixed gear for 32 years. I have been corresponding with John for about 3 years. about 2.5 years ago, he asked me to build a set of retracts for his Corsair, supposedly being built by Jack Devine. Along about the same time, Jack contacted me to see if I could design a smaller version of my articulated Bearcat gear, to fitthe smaller sizes. It sounded interesting, so I asked him for details, such as copies of the gear area of the drawings, or a hand drawn sketch so I could see what I had to work with. As for john, I built his gear, and he had me send it directly to Jack Devine, which I did. It is supposedly mounted in the wing. From that point on, not only could John not get email answers, or phone returns, but I no longer got replies either. I asked many time for the info on the Bearcat project, with no info forthcoming. I didn't worry too much about the lack of response, as I figured perhaps he had set aside the project, and I was "buried" anyway. John was especially good to me, really my wife, who lost her sight to Macular Degeneration. John voluntarily made up some special glasses, and also selected 2 special magnifiers, and sent them to Kay to see if they might help a little with her sight. She can no longer read or drive. They didn't help, but it was a very kind-hearted effort on his part. I'm sure John is not trying to insult any of you, nor does he want to put anybody off, but after all the years of exasperation, I cannot blame him for letting off steam Obviously those of you who criticized him have never gone through what he did. Sure, maybe he could have left out a few things, but any of us would be remiss if we did not call attention to this extreme case, to help protect our fellow modelers from such things. I know I have heard some good things about Jack, and know very little about his personal situation, but how much effort does it take to send a short email, even just to say you are having problems? I personally have always tried to reply to people, and also keep customers updated on progress on their gear. I'm sure John will not "bother" you again, but I'm also sure, that if he gets a good resolution from Jack, he will also let you know about that. I apologize for "butting in", but I just had to. Thank you. Lee Robinson West Palm Beach, FL

Not that this will be welcomed but I'm tossing in my two cents on this. Lee provided an excellent perspective and I trust his input helped to calm things just a bit. Thank you, Lee.

John,

It is time for you to seek legal counsel to settle your grievance with Jack Devine Models.

Evil,

Calm down. As Lee stated, John has a right to be upset though he could have handled it a bit better. Your input only feeds the fire and solves nothing.

All,

Let's just let this exchange rest and let John begin formal legal recourse. I'm sure he will keep us apprised of what happens and, hopefully, he will be satisfied with the outcome. As for me, I'm going back out to the workshop and enjoy this wonderful hobby.

Al

Al,

Kindly don't tell me to "calm down". I'm NOT the one that exploded all over the internet. I said the same exact thing you did. He has every right to be upset, but has no right to threaten anyone over the internet.

Mayhap you should take your own words under advisement.

Thanks all for your input. And I feel I have not 'exploded' or threatened anyone here on this thread, its just stating facts as they have come to be. Lets just see what comes down in the next few days.
Thanks everyone,
John

John,
I have read over this thread and have not seen a place where you have exploded. This is the internet era and Jack does business over the internet. I see know reason why someone who takes orders over the internet then refuses to respond to people he has taken money from should not be called to task in a forum such as this. Untill i found this thread i was actually going to order his P-40, but have decised to go another route. I for one will never buy from him based on the bad track record here.

On another note, I do believe as modelers we should use the internet to help prevent other fellow modelers from being taken in by internet crooks. But alas all are not appreciative of it. A year ago i have serious issues with an Evolution gas motor and could not get Horizon service to do anything {it was new}. When i started a thread on it i was attacked from several people. After i did a search of the posts by these people i found they were paid hacks to protect the intersts of suppliers on RCU. So when someone comes along and takes exception to a legitimate complaint, know that they have dog in that hunt, even if they try to be coy.

Boy am I glad I did a search on Jack Devine Models and ran across this thread, thank you folks for starting this.
After reading this thread I realized I may have patience but not nearly as much of some of you.I recently picked up one of kits unbuilt and have been trying to get in touch with Jack via phone, E-mails....when I finally did get a e-mail response it sounded just like sooo many of these that I had to actually laugh !! "I will send you the stuff out and you should have it by such & such and I'll let you know what the cost is". Well nothing ! and they don't and will not answer either phone line or return phone calls. No, luckly I'm not out any $$ but it's the whole business point of the thing, I mean Come on now, how hard is it to return a phone call when your running a business.
I don't care if you got a Dog in the hunt, those people need to mind there own business and let us take care of ours. Has anyone got any results from this guy yet?
