Has anyone had any contact with Jack Devine in the last year or so?I am having a very bad feeling about a situation with him ;(
although, if he would just reply to my emails and phone calls, I would think I would feel just a little better.

Remember Jack's fulltime job is a School Teacher. We are right in the middle of his busiest time of the winter.

I talked to him about two weeks ago.

John,
Jack has quite a reputation for selectively not communicating with people. I was warned by several modelers to avoid him but did not take heed. After FOUR YEARS, and $300, I'm still waiting for a Laird Solution Kit that he promised me. This, after I spent hours on the phone with him, listening to him tell me all about the plane, building it, flying it and that it was all ready to be shipped. He even sent me pictures of it ! It's almost laughable that with this lack of intergrety, Jack Devine is listed as one of the advisors on the RC Warbirds web site, which is great resource for all types of warbird info. Irrespective of how busy he is or what he does for a living, he should be able to find time to respond to people that have questions for him or who have paid him money. The world is filled with people like this and occasionally they find their way into our great hobby....

I've NEVER had an issue with Jack.

I have two kits from him that were delivered on time, and are well done. Even when I messed up and wrecked one of the sets of wings (don't drop a G62 from a shelf 6 feet in the air onto a half finished FW 190 wing...) one email to him and a couple of weeks later he send me a full wing kit.

Thanks Evil and Paul.
Evil, Im glad he will talk to you. Ive had it up to my eyebrows about how Jack has a fulltime job, new child, bla,bla,bla... Im not slamming or jumping on you Evil Merlin so please dont take offense to my venting. Just so all will know,I made a deal with over Jack 3 YEARS AGO for him to build me one of his corsairs in exchange for some eyeglasses. I sent Jack ( now keep in mind ALL this equipment is BRAND NEW!) a supertigre 90 2 stroke, a new complete Hitec flight pack, Bisson pitts muffler, fuel tank, a set of Rhom 90 degree rotating retracts which Jack said that he couldnt get into the wing to work correctly, so I then purchased a set of Lee Robinsons Robinaire 90 degree rotating retracts for $300 in which Lee was kind enough to send directly to Devine, as well as some other misc equipment. I even paid Devine $200 for him to paint the plane and I also told him it was fine for him to test fly it for me. "No problem" he said. Jack told me by email that I would have my plane in time for Christmas under the Christmas tree, I guess I just wasnt sure which Christmas this was going to be ,huh?
Oh Paul, seems like he once sent me some pictures too of a corsair that was framed up stating it was my plane and "it just needed a little more work on it", or something like that. Paul, your deal with Devine sounds very similar to mine doesnt it? Hummmmm......... makes one wonder, doesnt it?
So, after NUMEROUS phone calls to his residence, emails, and pm's , he will not respond or return my calls, emails,or pm's. In my opinion, this is not the way to treat people at all.
SHAME ON YOU JACK DEVINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think its finally time for me to let people know whats going on with my situation .There have been several that knew about this, but I did it offline as not to offend anybody. Enough of that worrying about how Im going to hurt or offend other parties involved!!
Ive even had a friend of mine who owns another online scale building sight talk to Devine on my behalf to try to find out whats going on with my stuff. No luck with that either!
At this point and I have emailed Devine about this many times; I just want all my equipment back that Ive sent him as well as my money I paid ( yeah right! )
I have no other other choice now but to persue the legal channels to reclaim my stuff. Thats right, get attorneys and possibly the police involved . Its a damn shame that people will do this to others in this great hobby that I love and enjoy.
So I guess I am going to be forced to show my ugly side since I cannot get any response from Devine.
Again, I dont want to hear how he's busy, a teacher, has an ingrown toenail, his house needs painting, its raining , global warminig, or stuff like that. I took that advice for well over a year and it got me NOWHERE!! Its all about the money now! I work too hard for what I get to have someone try and pull this crap.
Moderators: if you will allow it, please let this thread stand as I just want people to know what they dont always know about others that they may deal withso they can be warned from here on out.
Anyone else out there with less than ideal dealings with the other party?
Should anyone have any questions about my deal, feel free to pm me.

John,
I must agree that your situation very much mirrors mine. I sincerely tried to resolve this issue with Jack Devine OFFLINE for almost two years. I believe that there were 42 attempts to reach him at a variety of numbers with no success. It would be great, because of the success and popularityof this website, if the moderators here, allow this correspondence to remain as it will serve as a warning to others about the integrety and the business practices of Jack Devine.

I would have to agree with you 100% Paul.
Thank you. Any others out there, feel free to drop in and voice your opinion.
I do want to mention something about Lee Robinson from Robinaire retracts. When I was in touch with Lee several years ago about building me a set of retracts for the Devine corsair, Lee didnt have all the information that he needed to assemble the gear (dimentions,..etc) so Lee was kind enough to call Devine and get what he needed. There was always a email from Lee Robinson just to stay in touch with me and to advise what was going on with my gear. When Lee finished my gear, he was even kind enough to send the gear to Washington State where Devine lives. Heck, Even Mr Robinson tried to contact Devine to see if Devine would just send the plane to him(Lee) to put the gear in it for me- which as you can imagine, there was no contact from Devine to Lee Robinson. I can say one thing, I do like the way Lee Robinson operates. Constant contact and communication with the buyer will win me over every time, and Lee has proven himself with me on that regard. Thats the way to do business!!!And besides that, He does great work and he's a pretty nice all around guy too I feel.
Two thumbs up for Lee Robinson!

ow. An eyeopener here....

especially when you consider what a "household" name Jack has in the Warbird community; heck maybe even the RC community in general.

Wow, I honestly did not know things were like this with Jack. I know the previous owners of the company (Northwest Hobbies or something like that) had some serious issues, but I know Jack was working hard on turning things around.
I'll try giving him a call tonight. I know he was posting on RCScaleBuilder a couple weeks ago as well...

I appreciate that Evil. Yes, things for certain lesser known pee-ons(me) are like this its seeming. I think had I been a 'known name' in the rc world, Jack would have stepped up and bent over backwards to do the right thing and produced me either a flyable airplane or sent me my equpment and cash back( just my thinking here) . Ive even had a very nice fellow rc'er who lives close by Devine go to his residence, knock on the door knowing someone is home, but no one would answer the door- go figure.
Evil, I dont know what you want to tell him that he doesnt already know and has known for quite some time by me and others, but I thank you if you want to try and make contact with him. You might want to tell him to contact some people really quick like to get there stuff back to them, because the boom is getting ready to fall and it aint gonna be pretty!
Oh Evil, just an fyi, he hasnt answered to my many pm's at RCScalebuilder either over the last 2 years or so.
Thanks again Evil for trying to prod him.See what he says if you want to. Am I going to believe what he says now? I doubt it. Is he going to contact me? I doubt it........ Enough is enough though the way I see it. Its time to poop or get off the pot. Anyone that knows me knows I am a very patient individual, but like I said, its time for some action to be taken. And it IS coming.....

John,

Believe me, I'm not known in the RC world, other than being a total FW 190 nut who isn't a fan of ARF's... but other than that, nope, not famous at all...

If I get ahold of Jack all I can say to him is he needs to check this thread.

Have you tried calling him after 8:00 PM EST?

Been there done that Evil. The answering machine does not lie when you leave voice message after voice message after voice message at the mans residence, ya know? .....
Yeah, you can tell him to check this thread if you want , doesnt really matter now to me. I know that he already knows about it all.

Thanks so much for the kind words, John. I try! I guess it's what has kept all the guys on my rotator thread sticking with me over 3 years of trials and trubulations!! I guess I can't help it, as at the mention of "airplane", I instantly develop oral diahrea!! Did I spell that right??? Probably not!! Lee
