It's the Baja 5b's long lost grandad! lol! No, seriously though, I've never seen this car before, but it is so blatantly what the Baja 5b is based on. Were those things any good? ^

To bad..
The original thread was great!!
It was the reason I got into the LARGE scale R/C.
I started another thread not long after and think it was also locked.. Oh well.
I hope this one lives longer.

Awesome! I wanted a Jackrabbit about 20 years ago. I think they were about a grand, but being in high school, I needed to save for a real car!

Exactly!!!! I was in 5th or 6th grade when I first seen these and I wanted 1 so badly, we would sneak into the library @ the time and look at rc car modeler or Rc action(25yr ago) and drool over the ads for tin the tower hobbies sections......it was alittle over a grand I think @ the time, and now look the BAJA is out and the ole RACO is gone ........and for how much they want for the JAck rabbit you can buy a used baja

Soo has anyone fit an other wheel or tire on the JR? I was wanting to try the HPI Sand Buster Tires, but they seem to be too big for the JR wheel.

Hello all,
After many years of playing with all the smaller stuff and doing 1/4 weed boats full tilt
I just bought a Jack Rabbit, always wanted one.

The car was never ran , just sat there looking pretty all this time,
But I will run it,
I have some questions,
The plastic engine case says "US Engines"
I thought these guys came with Zenoahs?

Do these cars have a diff or locked rear?

What parts will break?

Are there cross over parts, for example do people run 1 /10 monster tires on these or is there something better,

I saw there is No selling here, but are you guys allowed to tell me where to go hunt hop up parts or if you have something shoot me a ptivate Email if that is ok,

I know from my hopped up weed boats I must have a tuned pipe,
Do any exit out the rear or will I have to make it?

So I guess give me the Rabbit 101 class,

Thanks
Cheers
P.

Generally the rear is locked. There was a diff option, but very rare. You can tell if you grab the rear wheels. If you can turn one wheel by itself without the other one turning, you just scored a diff $200 part now and days!

US engine is a rare find in it. someone probably changed it at one time.

The part that WILL break is the rear trailing arms. After some hard beating they will snap where the shock mounts. Also be carefull of nose dives off of jumps. This thing needs to be driven over SCALE size jumps, nothing big!

The standard tuned pipe went out the side and around, simular to a smaller nitro car setup.

Good news is that there was a million of those buggies made. There is always one or two on ebay and they are cheap. Parts come around pretty often too.

Have fun!!!

200-300 for a beat up one that needs some cleaning up and $500-600 for one in very nice condition.

Cool...I thought so, I did ok, 400.00 and it's in almost new condition,

Looking at pictures I am guessing the side nerf bars were extras, will I be able to find them?

I wont count on it having the diff but wish it did , they are nice

here is a pic

The weed boats were a blast but I just know this thing is gonna really get me going ,
More options with a buggy than a boat.
