There is nothing for him to grab on to. He said it broke the head off and he used vise grips or pliers and it stripped the rest that was sticking out. The threaded part is stuck in the block. He needs to punch it out or drill it out.

I dont see how you are lost. Where the bolt goes through the block he broke the head off of the bolt while turning it and the threaded part is stuck in the block from thread lock. He was able to get the header off and the other bolt came right out. There is nothing left to grab.

i am lost since there are no threads on the engine and its like a little more than an 3/4 inch that the broken screw can be stuck in, so what can be holding it? i read in his original post that he wants to tap and thread it, to me that means there are threads involved. I dont think i am too far off asking for a picture and feeling a little confused, every heard of a picture is worth a thousand words? I understand what you are saying, i want to make sure what he is talking about. you showing me you picture is not showing me what he is talking about, we are assuming that he is talking about that, i just want to be sure.

I think i got it figured out. I just need to drill through it. The only reason i didnt know that before is because i didnt pay close attention to notice there wasnt a thread in the engine, only thread in the exaust header. I just thought there was thread in the motor too because somehow the bolt got locked in there. Idk what i coulda grabbed onto to get locked in there but it wouldnt move. Im positive drilling would work, Drilling through it will make the same smooth whole and hopefully it will be the same as it was before. uhh i can try to post a picture, if i can figure out how

He thought there were threads in the block at first until he looked in the other hole and saw no treads. It must be a fluke thing or he used alot of tread lock and thats what is holding it in the block. He was able to unscrew it till the header came off then it broke so there is nothing to grab onto.

the end of the screw is probably bent where is bound in the engine, i think you will have a hard time drilling it out since the screw is a harder metal than the engine block, be careful. you may only need to drill a little to get it to come out, does it turn at all? is any of the screw stuck in the manifold?

You could possibly be out of luck. If you can't get it out with out drilling your not gonna get out by drilling. I can guarantee from experiance that unless you have a high speed carbide bit (not drill bit either) your not gonna get that screw out by drilling it. You need a good drill press or Mill and a very very highspeed. I'm talking like 10,000 RPM to be able to drill straight through with out slipping off. I hate to burst your bubble, but you have only two options here. Get it out with out drilling or trade it in for a new engine.

I still think he can use a small punch and push it back through the other side.

Oh, ya, good call a small punch, might be the best bet, hadn't thought of that. THey're way to fuzzy to tell what's going on, try taking the pics alittle farther away and not holding the engine in your hand. WTH is that thing? Is it a tsunado, lol. That's cool looking with the wing on the back and the black wheels, I like it.

do you have needle nose vise grips? If you do just put them on the hex end of the bolt and twist/pull, the screw should come out. unless it was welded in it should be very easy to remove. if you are not mechanically inclined enough to do so ask someone else who is. (not saying you are not).

His problem is that there is no hex head to grab there is nothing. I think the punch idea would be better than drilling. I just don't see how he's gonna be able to drill that out with a regular drill and drill bit. It's basically going to bounce off the bolt right out of the gate and oval out the hole. Oh hey shoot ya know what else you could do, if you have one, is get a small propane torch and carefully heat up the aluminum around the bolt, the aluminum will expand twice as much and twice as fast as the bolt, thus freeing up the bolt. That's a trick used to resleeve a diesel engine, you heat up the block with a drop light and freeze the sleeve and they just drop in the hole. It should work on your small engine there, but you need a vise and a propane torch to get it done. Seriously if you need help let me know, if your not wanting to trade your engine in, drop me a line and maybe we can get the engine here and get that bolt out or if you have a friend with the tools. A propane torch, small punch and a vise.

I hate to tell you but all aboutfunhobbies hit it on the nose the bolts are steel and the block is alum or cast neway it is softer than the bolt. you would have to have a cnc or mill to be able to get it out by drilling and even then it would be really hard because the bit would want to slide off the hard metal and in to the soft ruining you engine you best bet is going to be upgrading!

OK heres some better pictures of both sides of the bolt. On the side where the exaust header attaches too, the bolt is sticking out exacly 3mm. Not to much. On the other side, its even with the motor. About as even as when you ajust adjust the LSN on a carb. hope those are better and give a better view so yawl have an idea what im going through here.

Also a different pic of my tsunado!!

it looks like you should use a small punch or even a nail on the back side of the motor and slowly tap it out
