Mike: Follow-up on the note that I sent to you last night regarding the warped Fusion fuselage.

These pictures might show the "wow" in the fuselage of the FusionX3D that I received yesterday. It is mostly bent in the yaw axis, but is also bent in the roll axis. I don't know how it can be made flyable, but if anyone has suggestions on how that can be done... please share.

Fly safe, Glover

From what I can see it does not look bad at all. Use an iron and heat the covering a little on both sides as you flex it the opposite way. Old trick. Follow the instructions when you install the stab to assure you have it parallel to the wing. It will be fine.

I just posted this in another forum but i will do so again. My fusion fuse came with a warp to the right worse than yours. I built it anyway and i can honestly tell you I don't notice it at all. This is the best flying plane I have ever flown. I have had maybe 20 arf's with straight fuselage's and this one can fly circles around all of them.

bbagle1, did it fly "circles around all" of your other toys because the fuselage was so warped it would only go in circles? When I get this sucker together it is my quess that I'll not need to use a PCM RX and program a fail safe slow circle when signal is lost.

Kiding aside, as Mike suggested I've been ironing away on that fuselage, and curently have it weighted down. Tomorrow, when I next pick it up, I'll be looking for it to be a lot straighter than it was yesterday. I want it to be straight before I continue with the assembly. (The Fusion90 that I had did not have any "wow issues" with its fuselage. It died because the YS-110 I had on its nose shook it to death after about 200 flights... and excellent ones at that; so I wanted more, therefore the Fusion X3D order.)

Fly safe, Glover

PS I also received a OMP Ultimate kit in yesterdays mail, so this winter when I build it I'll be paying attention to engine mount strength and fuselage straightness.

Let us know how it works out. You will love how the Ultimate goes together. Be sure to start a separate build thread on that kit build. I did a lot of cool laser cutting on that kit and it builds pretty nice. Pay atention to top and bottom, and left and right wings! haha There are four wing panels on a bipe.

Well after lots of time ironing and bending including overnight clamping, it's still too warped. Today I'm going to clamp it to jig and place it outside in my shed for a few weeks (we're talking Oregon rain driven humidity here). If that works... good. Otherwise, I'll move on to something else.

I built your Hybrid Edge last winter... now that was a big wing. I believe that I had to purchase seven rolls of covering for that toy. Too bad that an untimely engine failure ruined it for me. Your 10-300 wings are itty bitty in comparison.

I have the same problem with the 52" Fusion ARF that we just bought. The fuselage is warped 1/4" to the right. Did you ever get it fixed? What worked? Should it be replaced by OMP?

Thanks

I bought a Kat 70 V2 from OMP a while ago and its fuse was also warped and believe me when i tell you guys this......BUILD AND FLY THEM. You will not notice any bad flight tendencies. Unless you plan on flying expert pattern competition with them serious

My 2 cents,

5150: I did finish assembling the X3D even with the warped fuselage. I got it somewhat straighter, but it still has a "wow" factor. Our field over in Turner is too wet for me, so it will most likely be late spring before it is used to poke holes in the air. I'm building and repairing my inventory in anticipation of a long summer flying season.
