Bought this fro my LHS, it inlculded the S9254. Will this work with the 450? Sorry, probably a stupid ?, I'm a noob. If not, whatservo should I use with this? My other gyro's are HS-65MG, would that be alright.

if you can, get the s9650 digital servo. the 65mg is great for the swash but the 401 takes advantage of the higher rate digital signal and you want to get something as fast as possible in a mini size for the rudder, it will hold the tail better

The 9254 is pretty big, is the 9650 the same size? Will that mess with the CG (balance) of the helo? Thanks so much for th help, this is pretty over whelmming for a newbie.

What are you using the Servo on? I bought a Gyro +Servo package for a Trex 450 by mistake and now I have to buy a servo like yours for my Trex 600. The HS65MG servos are often suggested for the Trex 600 cyclic. Don't Know for the 450 as I am new to to this stuff. The servo and Gyro comes as a package from Futaba and is matched for the Trex 450 or 600.This seems to be correct if bought as a package for the right Trex size. The GY401 is apparently suitable for both sizes of Trex.

I am buying HS65MG's for my Trex 600 cyclic. Those servos are apparently not fast enough to control the Tail but work well for cyclic.

HiTec does not list the HS65MG on their download chart. The digital HS6965HB is .1 at 4.8v or .o8 secs at 6v. The futaba you have is .o6 secs at 4.8v. Its simply faster and highly respected for that application.

I read that the Gyro GY401 will not operate successfully on more than 4.8v. 6.0v will harm it.

i went from a small micro servo to the S9650 on my falcon and its much bigger but for the weight you really cant tell, if anything just move the batt alittle forward if the CG changes. but it shouldnt change all that much.

the S9254 is better for a .50 nitro or above, it's simply too big to put on the tail of a 450 electric. If you look at the gyro servo kits you'll notice that one comes with the 9650 (meant for 450 electric) and another comes with the 9254 (.50 or larger). don't put a 65mg on the tail, you won't get the tail to hold as well as with a digital higher torque, higher speed mini servo.

the 9254 is a standard size
9650 is mini
65mg is micro

so the 9650 will be between the 65mg's that you have and the 9254 you want to get rid of.

I will agree that the 9254 is a little large for a 450, but it has worked flawlessly on my Trex. I wouldn't use anything else.

I'm not trying to say the 9254 won't work, just that I think it's over kill for a 450 size electric.

That poor thing must look like its pulling a U-haul behind it with a 9254 hanging from the boom.
