Happy Friday everyone!

I've posted a few times around here, and read a lot of posts, but I'm still a 2xnewb. I am working on basic flight both in sim and garage/backyard with my HBFP. It's been good to me, but I can feel it's limitations, too. Recently, I've been preparing to get a HBK2 for Christmas (found the ad on here recently for $118 RTF. Not a bad price.) by looking for recommended (here on the forums of course) and inexpensive upgrades for it while I've got a trickle of $$ available. With the posts about basic upgrades to it, I've purchased both a 0704A and TLB01 gyro and am looking to get a brushless setup as well.

Anyway, before all that, I'm wondering if it would be useful to install one of the gyros on the HBFP? The tail control seems very unstable to me. Being a newb, I really know very little about radios, functions of digital/non-digital/computerized radios, etc. The HBFP included radio equipment uses a 4-in-1 of course, so is it even possible to incorporate one of the other gyros? It needs to control the rear motor instead of a servo for tail rotor pitch. If it might be worth my time, how does one go about this "upgrade?" Me wonders if it must involve replacing the receiver with a 3-in-1??..... I really don't know.

Thanks for any ideas. (And I am looking forward to the King2 early next year.)

If you go over to the eflite forums they have a thread on converting a blade cp to brushless and adding a separate gyro.

Thanks, Druss. I'll go take a look. I think my post was kinda unclear. I'm not going to upgrade the motor on the HBFP, just the gyro. The brushless will be saved for the King2.

It can be done by separating the halves of the 4in1 and gettin' jiggy with a soldering iron, but it's kind of a pain and a delicate operation. Far easier to separate the halves, get a 3in1 and go from there (if it means that much to you).

I burned the tail ESC out on my original 4in1 a while back and got a separate 3in1 and ran an 0704a gyro on my FP for a while. Worked well. Installing a gyro that way is cake. Never done it the other way, but many have with good results.
