I saw another thread where a guy says he's going to be using a 40amp discharge 7.2V 4400mah...that sounds a little high, the highest I've been able to find for 7.2V batt is 30amp discharge rate, while most are between 10 and 20 amps.

So the scenario lies here....

7.2V 40amp discharge VS 8.4V 25amp discharge......which is faster?

I know that an 8.4V equal to equal will smoke a 7.2V but lets say that the local track only allows 7.2V....can anyone recommend any high discharge 7.2V?

Or should i just conform to the masses?

what do you mean which one is faster? Which one will put out more watts quicker? If so you've got 288w (assuming it can hold the 7.2v), and 210w if it can hold the 8.4v during discharge, so the 7.2@40amps is going to put out alot more watts if you can get one that will hold the voltage. If you go with lipo's then you would be able to do that, but I dunno much about 10C or higher draws with a NiCD or an NiMH
