I've recently purchased a Futaba 6EX transmitter which I'm currently using with AFPD. Almost everything is fine except I can't seem to get the flaps/undercarriage to work. I've also noticed a couple of the channels don't tally with the in-game channel allocation, meaning the channel allocation doesn't correspond with each other, i.e rudder is allocated to the undercarriage channel and vice versa.

Can anyone please enlighten me to what could be causing this, I'm using version 1.8.0.9 of Aerofly Pro Deluxe.

Cheers Ian

Are you using the basic or advanced setup menu? I suggest that you read Chapter 10 of the manual first to understand how channel assignment is done.

Thanks for the reply Rajul, I haved used both set-up options, and understand how the channel allocation works, however, it's just the channels and their correct allocation don't tally with what is labelled on the Futaba transmitter itself. Where for example the transmitter has labeled the rudder being on channel 4, in Aerofly the rudder control only operates correctly on the transmitter if I assign it to channel 6 via the Aerofly set-up. Basically what is channel 4 on the 6EX is channel 6 in Aerofly, and vice versa.

Last night I installed Starflight and updated it to 1.9.7.11. Now the transmitter isn't even detected at all. The 6EX is set-up to how it came out of the box, and therefore is set to factory settings.

Let's go through this one step at a time. Did you set your radio to PPM mode? Is the radio on when you use AFPD? A well designed adapter will switch on your radio automatically when you plug it into the trainer port, and also disable the radio transmission (so you don't have to remove the module or xtal). If it does not switch on automatically, then use the main switch of the radio, and remove your xtal or module for safety.

Hmm, PPM mode? I haven't got a conventional transmitter, but a 2.4GHz type, does this have PPM? Sorry, but I'm really a serious noob when it comes to RC, although I'm guessing the module/XTAL is the crystal, in which case I don't have, or at least I don't think I have

I've scanned the 6EX manual and the most relevant feature I can think of changing is turning on the trainer mode via the digital menu. The Futaba 6EX may be a user friendly tranmitter, but for someone new like myself it's all a little complicated to begin with.

I'm at work ATM, although when I get home I'll enable the training mode to see if this changes anything. I can't see any mention in the manual about disabling the transmission, although I suspect this might be automatically done when selecting training mode.

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, for 2.4GHz radios, there is no need to select PPM mode. Basically the output signal from the trainer port works with AFPD. Please DISABLE the trainer mode of your radio. The radio should disable the transmission automatically when you plug in the adapter into the radio. Make sure that you push in the stereo male/female connectors between the adapter and the usb interface cable all the way in. If the radio does not switch on when you plug in the adapter, then use the main switch. The radio must be on.
