Coming week I recieve my kit from Schneider Modell, it is an Air tractor 502 1:5.
Spanw. 3,25 M.
Length 2,10 M.
Engine ZG74 with 2 in 1 reso.
Total weight aprox. 12 KG.

I will place some pictures here of the building.

The engine sticks both of the cylinders through the cowl but i think that looks okee.
I hope I get with the use of a reso a RPM of 6800 with a 24x10.

Status: offline 		I have made a two in one headerpipe for connecting my reso to then engine.

Have somebody experience with this kind of setup? In comparison with the use of two reso exhausts or cannisters.

Status: offline 		Today I have done some testing with the ZG74 on a test stand and with the use of a reso pipe I get 7200 rpm with a Menz-S 24x8.

I think I can get 6700 with the use of a 24x10 Menz-S. If I have the prop I let you now.

Status: offline 		My GT 80 does 6800 with a Menz S on standard exhausts, so once set up properly you should be able to get a bit more power from your tuned pipe setup.

I let you no when I have the 24x10 prop, but maybe is the GT80 a lot more powerful as the GT74.

I dont no the factory specification of both engines, Maybe you?

Status: offline 		According to Toni Clark, the german importer of the Zenoah line, and might I add very experienced with these engines, states that the only difference between the 74 and 80 is around 1-200 rpm. A friend of mine runs his GT 80 on a single pipe, recording these numbers:
Engel Super Silence 22x12 3-blade prop: 7000rpm
Mejzlik 22x12 3-blade prop: 6700rpm

Both of these props provides a very silent and powerful combination. He uses the engine for aerotowing gliders up to 7 meters, weighing up to around 16kg.

Go to www.toni-clark.com and download his catalogue. Lots of nice products, and a lot of info for the Zenoah user.

It al looks fine with a good quality wood and the parts are nice cut out.

Status: offline 		Yes indeed Alex, at the moment there is no flying weather in the Netherlands.

Hi Bernie, at first look it seems a lot of work but everything is wel cut out and the parts fit together with "locks" in German "alle Teile passen sehr gut durch Verzapfung".

For example, for building the wing you need no drawings, the place for the ribs are fixed, in the cut out, main spar. The only thing you have to care about are the right angles.

For now I am going to the field testing the engine again, The engine was in first place for some reason, make it smaller I think, converted to the smal CM-6 spark plugs but I have read somewere that the engine runs better with the standaard RCJ7Y plugs.

And no, the engine fits not under the cowl but with the both cilinders sticking out, can be a nice look. Maybe I spray both cil. with heat resistant paint in red or so.
For this airplane I do not to much on scale matters, I hope I can build it in a not so long time.

Status: offline 		I started with the wing main spar end the first ribs. The mainspar is build up from spruce and plywood to get a box.
The wingtubes are precisely lined out for the right angle of the wings.
After that the ribs are glued to the box.

Ruud, thats an interesting building mode, I never saw. It looks good and easy.
But beware, there´s quick built in a torque in the wing.

Yes, the heavy-looking steel blocks are weights.

Ruud, thats an interesting building mode, I never saw. It looks good and easy.
But beware, there´s quick built in a torque in the wing.

That is a good comment Bernie, when the wings are covered with balsa sheets the building manual says to be aware of torque.
So I'll I be on the alert for torque in the wing.

Status: offline 		This week I did some work on the wings with the allerons and air-brakes, after I finished the inspection hatches for the servo's I go scheeting the upside of the wing.
After that I started with the fuse.

your methode to planking the wing, is the same like mine. First glue on at the leading edge, than make it wet and glue the rest...........good

The pic with the servo is the pic of the flaps, or not? Because they are hinged at the outside of the wings.

Looks all very good, very professional!!!!!!!!! I like yor work.
