Brian the "haze" in the pics is from the flash you used. Sadly the lighting wasn't the best for pictures so you had to use flash.

I want a Vic to teach me some jumping skills. Seems like you always landed on the down side or just a touch short. I need to work on that...well once this stupid Revo gets handling.

Matt please send me the set up...looks like I need to try yours first before I get creative. If they are open Friday after TurkeyDay for practice I plan to spend a lot of time there getting this thing right. But I really want to be more competitive next week.

That makes sense about the flash Jake, kinda like how headlamps light up the fog on a foggy day. If I bring the camera again I'll see how it does with the flash off since the vid was better and didn't use any additional lighting.

Terry and Tony...no problem anytime.
Oh and Tony, thanks again for the wheels.

Revo setup. I know its kinda cluttered, but theres ALOT to do on a Revo for setup.

Revo 3.3 setup
standard offset wheels, GRP w/ Cubics (using 17mm wheels, with Ofna 17mm adapters.)
P2 rockers
front shocks 45wt oil, gold spring, #1 piston
rear shocks 50wt oil, tan spring, #1 piston
camber front 1 degree
camber rear 1.5 degree
toe out in front, approx. 2 degrees
toe in rear 2 degrees
front diff fluid 10k
center diff fluid mix of 300k/500k ( not an exact science there, i tried for half n' half.
rear diff fluid 5k
roll center position for for upper suspension arms Front upper position, rear lower position
Tekno sway bar kit, front only (medium bar) (note: the rear sway bar hits the .18TM cooling head.)
Ride height just below level front, level rear.
Brake bias, 30% front/ 70% rear. Then i back it down on the radio overall.
No wing kit
No steering mods
Close ratio tranny w/stock spur/clutch bell
Push rod position on arms, inner position. (adjust the ride height at the shock collars, and it'll feel juuuust right)
caster clips all 4, in front of the arm.
HD servo saver spring
Proline steering arm

If you guys find i missed anything, just hollar. But i think that covers it all.

Edit: had to make a correction on shock oil.

Well, good news and semi-bad news.

Good news is, looks like I'll be moving out of my grandparents house very soon.

Bad news is, this renders an LST2 pretty much impossible for anytime soon. The semi part is, well, I still have a truck. So, I guess the Revo is gonna get fixed up after all...

So, what I need to do.
Engine - Rebuild the OS18, it looks like. Last I checked it in storage, it wasn't rotating. I'll have to break it down to see. I'm assuming for this, just off a guess I'll only need a piston, sleeve and bearings? And what plugs are you guys running on those in the winter up here?
Bearings - Any suggestions on where I can get a good quality bearing kit? I noticed on Tower, that there are ceramic bearings, but those are pretty pricey.
Steering - Going to single servo.
Starting - This is gonna be the killer. Not the backplate, so much as the bump starter. I'm tired of having timely one-way failures. I'll probably look into used boxes for this one. Who makes good ones of these? I've heard that it's kind of hit or miss with the little cube shaped starters.
I think I can survive for a while without the diff and brake kit.
I'll need a new reciever battery.

Of course, a new season and a new track demands a new body. But that's besides the point.

Anywho, as I'm digging through the mounds of possibilities of this stuff, if ya'll have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Typical rebuild is a piston/sleeve, and often a connecting rod. Bearings are usually re-used, unless of course they are damaged. You'll find all that out, when you look it over for damage. Bearing kits? There are many. Ebay has em listed, and google always finds something. FullforceRC.com has some kits. Dont bother with ceramics, they are a waste in offroad. I've heard nothing but bad about them. As for starters, there are a few out there now. Mine is the RDracing products, and jake has the rdlogics box i believe. I have no issues with mine.

If you need a piston/sleeve and bearings, you're darn near up to the price of a new engine. The OS .18TM is discontinued and the .21TM is very pricey, but the .18TZ engines are decently priced. I heard of people getting the TZ wtih the standard or short shaft version and using a Stampede clutch nut to still use the Revo clutch and clutch bell.

A guy I work with had a OS .18TM in his Revo. I think he only put 6-7 tanks thru it and decided he wanted to try a big block in it. He put an Axial .32 in it of all things...just a wee bit overkill. If you want, I can see if he wants to sell the .18TM. I know he is trying to sell the Revo right now, but I'm not sure if he is including an engine or which one if he does.

If the 18TM is locked don't rebuild it...just toss it and save yourself the pain and problems. Sorry by the time you buy what you'll need you on your way to a new one or a 21TM quick.

For Revo bearing sets: http://www.fullforcerc.com/bearingkits.htm#REV70

Starter boxes, Matt has the RD Racing one and I have the RD Logics one. Both of ours work well and prove to work well. After 2 summers I finally need a new wheel, but the rest of the thing is solid. I prefer the RD Logics one I bought because 2 screws and I can get inside. Matt's RD Racing one is like 22 screws to get in.

Matt Don't hate but I put your set up in the real document for us all: Click here for the super set up...ThermalRD style.

Al/PW ain't you supposed to be signing up here soon?

Well, the piston and sleeve is 80 bucks at Tower, and the rod is 40. A lot less than the 270 dollar tag applied to that os21.

However, I've heard that the Picco .26 isn't a bad engine. A drop in .26 at 190 bucks.

How does the TZ stand up to the TM, performance wise? If I get a new engine, I want to get more engine, not less. That's why I got the 18 in the first place. At my old track, I couldn't clear doubles with the 2.5 because it didn't have the get up and go to do it. (I got the truck before the 3.3 came out) Well, that and the 2.5 couldn't hold a tune to save it's life.

I'm generally a bit leary about used engines, but yea, if you want to ask him how much for it, I'd definately like to know.

The TZ has more power than the TM. Jake ran one last year. If you're ok with Traxxas engines, the 3.3 seems pretty good too.

I know what you mean about the used engines. Unless you know the guy, you don't really know how it was broken in and how it has been tuned, temps, etc.

Way more than a new one. He claims he has $1600 into it , yet it doesn't have a center diff, rear brake, or extended chassis. I guess he spent some big bucks on a complete set of RRP steel gears for the tranny and diffs, cvds, I think he has the Tekno radio box and fuel tank stuff to run a larger tank too, but I'm not positive. He still feels it is worth over a grand. After I heard that I pretty much tuned out the rest of what he was saying LOL.
