The normal M18T kit is a roller. Its always been a roller.

This is just their newest version. Pretty cool I might add. It'll bring a lot of people over to xray.

No, thats a kit. There is no ARTR of the M18T. The original kit version you linked to, or a new RTR for those that require such.

Build your own.. I can't even being to explain to you the knowledge of the car that you gain when you build it. Usually In my experience Xrays instructions have been pretty good. And they include most of the tools you'll need. Like I said Building your car is the only way to go. The very first RC car I bought I built. It gave me a real understanding of how these cars work and how to fix them when I break it. You can rely on yourself then instead of the "how do I fix this thread"

Sorry, should have been more clear about that. Mini_Me is correct. Its a kit you have to build. The kit is a roller when built. That's what I was referring too. I also love building my own r/c's. Even if I get a rtr or arr version, I'll tear it down and build it back to figure out how everything works.

These aren't nitro, these are the electric versions. For the nitro versions, look for th NT18T and NT18MT RTR's. Which are available already. And yes, a good car for begginer as well, without the headache of lower quality starting methods and engines.

I ordered another X-ray today

, the RTR M18MT. As I have bashed the hell out of my original m18t kit on brushless at 11.1v, I figured it was better to get the fully assembled pre-painted Cadillac RTR deal with good quality metal geared servo, 370 motor, 1200mah 6cell, a Tx/Rx to replace my questionable radio gear, everything, the lot. As I required a new body shell, lower steering knuckles (currently packed out lower arm with thin CA layers and using a washer retainer, works), desperately needs new tyres and I managed to break the top deck shock tower screw mounts (corners broke out, have a long 'C' shaped drilled to reinforce which is working). Plus saving me the assembly time.

Probably keep it as a clean moderate speed indoor basher on the stock brushed motor for the winter months and should take any amount of abuse compared to my other over powered setup.
Anyway it is supposed to look like the attached image RTR, which is pretty nice.

The kit version is the "pro". The only pro kit is the m18 pro. there is no t/mt pro and I dont think they are gunna make one.

M18MT RTR observations:

Ready To Role but:

- Comes without a charger.
- Requires 8AA Tx batteries (but does have a charge socket, again no charger supplied).
- All 8 Shocks are empty but oil is included (seems reasonable to avoid spillage in shipping)
- Ball diffs require break-in procedure (requires a couple of 'run car' then 'tighten diff screw 1/16' cycles).

The A4 sized manual is good and useful for a newbie setup, if you can be bothered to read it

.
Tx seems adequate, switched on and everything worked, adjusted the steering trim knob, otherwise no setup required.
The actual build and assembly quality is very good, can't fault the setup either really.
No screw driver supplied, although you get the plastic wheel socket.

8 shock plungers are all 4 gap soft variety (all soft for off road) which I would miss as the m18t kit comes with 4 shocks and a choice of plunger shapes. The 4 gap plungers are so soft that on road they are almost useless. On a bumpy off road with a long throw suspension setup I can see the need for soft 4 gap. With the kit, if you swap to the 2 gap plungers and the shock damping becomes awesome in comparison very firm and a must for good smooth on road handling at speed (even with stock oil).

The body shell is not the normal thickness Lexan, mine seems 1/2 as thin and looks like it will not take anything like as much punishment without serious damage (time will tell), indoors only for mine as I can't see it taking skidding down the road at 40mph like the kit Lexan could (for a while at least). I'm mean thin like takeaway packaging or a milk carton (Edit: perhaps thats over exagerated). The body looks very nice, pre painted in 4 colours means 4 variants of the standardly advertised flame version that looks yellow but is actually orange. I have the blue body which is the like the orange with the dark blue and orange inverted (result is darker). Red is brighter but green looks the one to avoid.
The Cadillac version has a small rear spoiler that can be manually fitted with supplied screws along with the decals (again, cut and fit your own) but the spoiler isn't painted both sides so would look odd if you didn't finish the spray job yourself.

It could be my imagination but the main concern for me over the kit build was that the hub and suspension arms had more slop/play in them than the kit build. I found the kit quite tight to put together, may be some of the tolerances have been relaxed to enable easier assembly, I don't know. Might be the way that the kit knuckles break out of the mouldings leaving little imperfections (can't remember). The most noticeable loose area is the hubs, bearing and CVDs which are covered in some kind of thin oil lube.
When this area eventually became loose on the kit build, I coated the bearing cases with thin CA, left to dry and refit to take up any slack between these components (careful not to get CA in any bearings though!). It's not essential but you can normally tell a solid construction if you take the rear wheels in each hand and give them a wiggle 90º to the axels, then rock the suspension laterally to check for slop. The kit had very little, the RTR has a bit more than I'd like. End of story.

Oh and the M18MT tyres are 70mm stationary, the very worn stock m18t's are around 55mm but swell at speed to about 65-70mm.
M18MT RTR weight 650g (simple and cheap)
M18T kit brushless 3s lithium 530g ($$)
Once I've run the ball diffs in a bit I'll shoot some video. Expect it to be relatively low speed action with the M18MT low gearing, brushed motor on 6s 1200mAh NiMh.

After being really picky here, the whole package is very good and probably the toughest quality RTR out there. I bet it still holds it's own against the competition, quality wise anyway

As noted, his diffs are way too loose and slipping but it gives any newbie some idea of stock brushed performance.
M18MT RTR is 54T/9T (9-12T included), the m18t RTR is 54T/12T for smaller tyres.
