i have 9t/54t too, but have some chinese motors. Was thinking about to buy mamba, but as i can see it is 'the same' hot motor.
It costs me 15usd and it has heat sink built-in. So for my time to time bushing it is enough.

It seems that the 9T is the only one that works for me, with my motor/battery combo. Can anyone advise if it's possible to buy just 9T pinion gears or do you have to buy the pack containing the other sizes too? Are there any other manufacturers that sell them cheper. Also, are the xray metal one much more durable and worth the price. Thanks.

M18MT has large wheel/tires, so I run an 8T metal pinion (2mm ID, 0.5 mod roughly 48pitch ) on the stock plastic 54T spur, makes more noise but it allows me to gear low enough for fast garden bashing on 3s with the little 5400Kv mamba. Probably max out around low 20s mph (at nominal voltage), flips and wheelies on demand in grass or street surfaces or spins like a demon on the loose stuff (it's a basher for sure ).

The metal spurs is even more noise (a few left on the shelf as spares) and the plastic spurs last so long, even using metal pinions as long as the mesh is pretty close. The problem with my aged M18MT is that the top deck and chassis can twist under power causing the pinion to skip, this eventually takes a tooth out and isn't long to a spur replacement. With the battered frame I just have to suffer a bit more noise with a slightly closer mesh. Note that I used to regularly power/torque flip upright from a roof tumble, now a days I don't do that so much.

module = 25.4 / pitch
48 pitch = 0.529 module

Thanks for the pinion advice. I've now got 2 M18MTs. I picked up a second hand one with lots of spares and a graphite chassis. Planning to stick with them for sometime, and want to keep them both running. The 9T pinion works really well for me, apart from wearing out, so it's great to have these options.

The stock ones are absolutely fine in my opinion. I do have some of these metal ones, but they don't make the car perform any better as far as I can tell.

They have more tuning options, since they run 4 holes insted of 3 in stock plastic. But mostly the plastic ones are fine. Im running the metal ones 2 front and 2 rear, but im running the Buggy lid and non protecting Truck one.
