I just saw this thread and I would like to through our 2 cents in. We are a UAV company in Dallas Texas and we specialize in unmanned airships. We just completed a 60ft blimp built around a FLIR ultra media III camera system. We gear our selves more to the civil market at the moment, but we are looking into homeland security aerial surveillance. We are currently building a 75ft blimp that will be capable of carrying more advanced aerial systems and stay aloft for greater periods of time. I guess what we are looking for are people who might have contacts with the government so we count show case our systems. Below are a few pics of our 60ft blimp.

Just a guess, but contacting uav companies that are already involved with government and DOD contracts may be the easiest avenue. Or serenade some of the larger aerospace companies in the right departments. It's damn tough to get a foot in the door. L-3 Communications and Boeing quickly come to mind.

Pats right about the big boys hogging all of the government money. Its forcing the really smart guys to languish in political enviroments at large companies.

It takes a lot of money to compete for concepts with the military. It takes even more to compete for procurement. I worked in aviation procurement and r&d. The qc is unbelievable for most people. The whole process is unbelievable.

We have grants for UAVs in the department at the University where I work. That is another avenue.
