Various thicknesses of plastic has done well for me too on those things Andrew. I've done Flitemetal on a lot of areas as well, but the variety of thicknesses to the plastic panels seems to set things off nicely under the paint. It sure is a lot easier than trying to tape of smooth edged corners w/ 1/64 chartpack tape I've found. I've ended up with a whole set of little templates for those parts for the 1/5 190. In fact, I've been using the plastic punch outs from a hole punch in a styrene sheet for the larger raised rivets on the wing fillets. Burning in a rivet circle into the styrene circle makes a fairly decent looking part for those..and without the dimpling effect that can occur w/ the glue rivets.

yup, using the plastic sure makes it easier. Meanwhile, the bottom wing rivets are almost done. I'm using a dremel, a metal template and a brass tube to lightly drill the rivets. ITs working pretty well. not perfect, but for a first timer it will do. More pics to come soon.

Isn't there supposed to be a hinge along that line on both sides? Adding a piano hinge might just do the trick..

Started to do some painting. Here are the pics of the flaps, servo covers and retract covers. Although some of the pics look like I am painting grey, it is not. (Bad lighting) Look at the servo cover in the wing pic. Its actually a sky blue. The Blue paint is from OMNI (just like PPG auto paint). THe red (inside flaps is Model Masters. After spraying the base color I hit it with a heavy coat of clear which is like an epoxy.
