Here are a couple of pictures. The aluminum tube is approximately 2 1/2" above the top of the mounting bracket and about 1/2 to 3/4 towards the front of the fuse.I hope this helps.

Well, my 1st idea failed miserable. However, I figured it out anyway. Here is the solution:

Make the output of where the wire comes out of the tubes to a place where it is level with the control horn when the retract is half way up and pivots at the same vertical location with where the upper retract bar connects to the retract mount. THis worked and as an added benefit, it produced some slack in the wire when the retract is in the full up position. Here is a quick diagram of what I mean:

I hope you keep in mind that the retract only goes up 2 inches. Not the full travel of the tail wheel without the cylinder which will probably make a difference. Here is a picture of my flap.

hey there ..ive been following your build subject since ive found it . i am undecided
about the Vailly 190 or the miester kit. any comments on either or suggestions?
also the info about precision kit cutters is disappointing ..is there a more accurate kit cutter ? thanks and keep up the good job . Art.

Snake thanks for the info, I had forgotten about the 2 inches travel. That will make the elevator connection easier as I can go with a simple control instead one with crazy bends in it. Nice Pics of your flaps. THe buyild goes on.

Hi Art I chose the Vailly for a number of reasons. First its a little cheaper but I can find more detail goodies for it than the Meister. Second, there seems to be a big argument between the Meister ower and some guy who designed a new wing for the Meister. In other words, to put in the scale retracts, you will need to buy 2 wings, one that comes with the kit and the other from this other guy to actually fly the bird. Oh and Meister's extra detail addons seems to be pricey.

There are other reasons but finally, the Vailly wing being a little shorter should fit in my car. You might like to glance at my "Decision" thread here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6545387/anchors_6545387/mpage_1/key_Vailly%252C190%252CBuild/anchor/tm.htm#6545387.

As far as PCK, the kit is not all that bad, but it seems they get a good price for it, but they leave out some details which I would have expected for the price you pay. Its still workable, just a little frustrating at times when they missed some stock requireing a trip or a measurement is off so you have more sanding than expected.

I believe there is another kit cutter named Laser Lizard. You should be able to GOOGLE search for him.

Good luck on your decision(s)

THanks Dave: THe Stab is now installed. I've got some more pics to post, but will wait till later, after I install the elevator control rods. My present issue is that because I installed the stab and about to start on the fin, I have to install the elev control rods 1st. This decision requires me to decide on where to locate the elevator servos before proceeding to the fin. I want them as close to the front as possible for CG purposes, without running into any type of possible EM interference at the same time, consider where the scale cockpit floor is and keeping in mind the space required for the servos in the up-down direction. I think that I have the solution, but I will have to wait til after work to check it out.

Art - Sorry I cannot remember his name. But this guy said that he dewsigned the original Meister Kit and then later, after no longer working for Meister, he designed a newer wing so that the Sierra Retracts would fit properly .

I did see the 100" FW 190. Yah- now that's impressive.

Before buying the Vailly I checked out SisT and decided not to go that route as Sis T is a newer company and it had only a few detail options, if any -- I can't remember to be certain. ANyway, I was not going to work out any unknown bugs. Ther are enough bugs in well known kits as it is.

Anyway-- Its snowing here in Okc. A very rare event. I hope to post new pics tomorrow or Friday -- Presently, I am working on the elevator control rods. THere are a lot of tiny steps to complete the way I am doing it. And a lot of measuring, sdjust and re-measure. Hope you stay tuned and thank you for watching this build thread.

Well, This took me a while to complete. But, It seems to work when I add a little pressure on the Elevators. My biggest issue was that the control rods would not be as sturdy in flight and that they would bend a little. You will see what I mean below in the pics.

B ut before I talk about that, There were two other options. 1st use a straight rod, but I would have to cut a hole through the stabilizer, most likely through the main strenght support and also mount the elevator servos on ann angle. Or I could install two pivoting arms on the same axis -- control rod to bottom of arm from the servo and a conntrol rod from the top of the arm to the elevator. The more connections, the more slop. So, what I did was to go direct - servo to elevator but with a bend in the rods and it seems to work under my applied pressure. There are 20 pics for you all, some with coments.
