Status: offline 		I solved one major problem late last night and this morning. The Edge's leading edge is straight but being as the Carden's fuse tapers front to rear, I had to cut the root of the cores at a 90 degree angle. I was going to use my bandsaw but the cores are to thick to cut. So I did my measurements with a big T-Square and made a line from the leading edge to the trailing edge. I then taped 3/16" square balsa on that line. I did this to both sides of the wing. Then I fired up my "MrBigg Built" foam cutter. I did a search last night on cutting foam and found that guys were just using AC current converted to DC using stuff like model railraoad control boxes. I thought to myself, why wouldn't a battery charger work? So I went out and tried it. I used a .016 guitar string. I wrapped each end around a bolt and hooked the chargers leads up to them. I used vise grips to hold the wire. I turned it on and was shocked that it cut pretty good. The vise grips don't even get hot, so you don't need gloves. Here's some pics.

Status: offline 		You know I will be bringing my cores over there to have you cut the wing tube holes!! LOL. Getting further on the fuse. also finisher fin and rudder... I put it next to my OMP Edge to compare size.

Status: offline 		Ouch !! just sanded the tip of my finger off DOH!!!. Finished the motorbox, get a pic of it when I take it out of the clamps. Hey did you say you got your drill press thingy at Menards ??

Status: offline 		Just talked to Brian at Dynamic Balsa, he told me to bring out the plans and he will figure something out for me. No big hurry on that right . Need to pickup wing tubes when I go there anyway..Here's that motorbox..

Status: offline 		I guess that was a bunch of work for nothing! After looking at the pictures I noticed that the box didn't fit the plan, Built that box per plans !!!!!!. I think I will wait till I decide what motor I'm going to use and build the box around those dimensions. That box was awful heavy, 3/4 hardwood sandwiched by 3/32 ply, 3 pieces 1/4 balsa,all between 2 pieces of 1/4 ply.

Status: offline 		52 " fuse length, 72"wingspan. 2"thick fuse at nose and starts to taper after cockpit to 3/8 at rudder.

You might be able to sub Light Ply instead of the birch 5 ply. Some weight savings there. By the size of the plane, I'm guessing an O.S. 1.60 FX, S.T. 2300, or a Saito 1.80 would be about right. The cheapest would be the Super Tigre. John might even have one in stock. If he does, and you went with that engine, It would be nice to have it before you cover the fuse. That way you could install the radio stuff, engine, and battery pack and optimize their placements so you won't have to add weight for balance.

Status: offline 		Sounds good. Going back to work tonight so this build will slow to a crawl... I plan to install everything and balance it before I cover it. Heck I still dont know what color it's going to be. The plan said to taper down to 3/8, do you think it would be ok to stop the taper at 1"? I read a thread about the tail of this plane needing to be beefed up in that area, I already plan some modifications to the tailwheel area . The lines on the fuse are down to 1". 3/8 seems awful thin for a stab this size..
