Sounds about right for 26-36cc gas power, depending on final weight. I am not a fan of big glow engines because they get so expensive to feed, but some people like them a lot.

Mark

What Mark posted earlier is right on. I'll go check some engines out.

here's a link to Brillelli. http://www.scottellingson.com/brillelli_engines_002.htm

I'm leaning towards the 46 myself. It's only 6 oz. heavier and you have alot of wing area so it shouldn't hurt too much. 10 bucks more over the 36 and you'll be able to use the 46 in more airframes down the road. What do the rest of you guys think?

I agree, no one has ever had too much power. If the weight is no issue the 46 is the better choice.

5.6lbs for everything. On a digital bathroom scale at .2lb increments. I weighed myself then held all the pieces That includes landing gear, wheels, tailwheel assembly. The wings are about half sheeted and the leading edge on both wings need to be carved down and shaped yet . also the fuse is only about 20% sheeted. No servos , batteries or fueltank..

Glued the wing tubes in. Still drying on the bench. The top side of the wing is down. I used Ultimate Poly. I was getting low and it was getting hard to squeeze the glue out. I seen the clamp laying there and put it to use!

I use Li-Ions from Fromeco. Need regulators with them. Maybe NiMh would be the most cost effective. I'd run 6 volts though. What's everyone else using on planes the size of beef's?

I took the wings off the bench. Everything went good. Laying out the ailerons. They will be 6.5" at the root, from the trailing edge and 4.5" at the tip, from the trailing edge. The ailerons are 52" long. Still trying to decide whether to use 1 or 2 servos with it being that long. My Ultimates ailerons are 42" long and each have a single JR 8611 and I have not had any problems with flutter. Help me decide- 1 or2 servos?

Layed out the ailerons and servo positions today. I'm going with one servo per aileron. Balsa is on its way. Hopefully everything will be sheeted by the end of the week.

Went and picked up a stab tube and socket. Spent a couple hours making the holes, plates and stuff. It's drying on the bench right now. I'll probally start sheeting tomorrow.

I can't decide what engine I want. Also have the issue with the fuel tank placement.. I want it in the fuse but the space is tight. might just have it protrude out both sides of fuse, just notch out the sheeting

You might want to make a removable panel on one side to get out if needed. Some company makes slim tanks, can't remember who.

I found one at steves but it's only 12 oz. I want at least 16oz or more. Both sides of the fuse will have access hatches between the wings ,the rails are already in place..I built the area for the servos but now with the servos in the tail I have a larger pocket for fuel tank.

you'd probaly be alright with the 12 ounce one. Gassers sip the gas compared to glow. Are you still thinking about the Brillelli 46?

I have the stabs/elevators ready for sheeting. Did the servo pockets up and laid out the elevators.

Not sure yet, been looking at the Fuji BT-43EI-2 but haven't been able to lock down a price anywhere.. I'm leaning towards the Brillelli 46

Go look in the Gas Engines forum. I don't think you will find one complimentary post about a Fuji engine. You will find a huge number that are happy with the Brillelli, for performance, value, quality and service. Just my $0.02.

BTW, I have no affiliation with Brillelli of any sort. Just pointing out what I have seen and my experience through a number of conversations with Scott regarding his engines and details.

I have to second that. Remember also if you get the Fugi from Tower you'll have to pay sales tax. Brillelli is in another state. I would be getting the Brillelli 46 myself.
