I bolted 1/16" angle aluminum to the fuse. I used two pieces of 1/4"x1" stock bolted horizontally on the engine cup. I had to go 1/4" so that I could recess these four screws- two on the top and two on the bottom. They needed to be recessed so that the bar stock could sit flush against the pieces of angle. I put in a little bit of right thrust also. After everything was lined up, I went ahead and drilled through both the flat stock and angle. Then I bolted it all togther.
Check out the bling on the engine. I polished it up a bit.

I'm gluing in a piece of hardwood for the tailwheel. I looked all over for my tailwheel from my crashed Extra and couldn't find it. So I decided to order one of them carbon fiber ones from Aeroworks. I couldn't get their shopping cart to work. So I headed out to the garage and Praise the Lord, I found it! Saved Forty-plus bucks!

I'm building the header in these pics. 1/8" flat steel for the flange and 1" EMT conduit which is a lighter than the standard stuff. I started out by shading over the exhaust port. I then cut out the port and tape the drawing to the steel. Using the drill press, I drilled the mounting bolt holes and a series of holes around the port opening.

I ended up giving it a little more squeeze in the vice to make it fit better. The header had to be cut on an angle at the flange to make it lower so it would clear the wing. It also helps with the access to the rear header bolt. After it was all welded up, I took the die grinder to the inside and opened the rough opening. I took it to the full opening of the tube. Kind of like port matching a car engine intake.

Pics of the pipe. Made the gear today. I made them using the specs from the Ultimate and as you can see they are a little high. They are not bent out as far as they should be also. I'll bend them out and see how they look. If I don't like them I'll build a new set and use these on the Ultimate. It needs a new set anyway made from this stronger aluminum.
I did trim the upper fuse a while back from the spinner to the end of the scoop.

Man you are going to town on that thing.. I glued the hinges in the rudder, elevators and in the ailerons on the profile. also glued the hinges in the ailerons for the Yak. Dean came over and brought his Mid Star 40 over and I had to put all the electronics in it..Then continued work on his 40 size P51 Mustang. Time for a break I also have a Arrow 40 I'm putting together

I know what you mean about taking a break. I'm hoping to have most of the sanding done by Monday night. I have some hangar rash to fill. Should be covered by next Saturday.
