Since I've scrapped the idea of using my crashed Wildhare Extra, I've been searching for a new scratch build project. A local guy makes foam wings and also sells wing tubes. I went to get a tube off him and was thumbing though his book of available cores and I found he has wing, fin/rudder, and stab/elevator cores for the Carden 40% Edge 540 and Extra! Each wing panel has a span of a little over 50" and he said that the wing area is bit over 2,000. The fuse must be pretty wide on the Carden 40% because the wingspan on them is 114" to 118," I think. What I like about using these cores are the facts that Cardens are known to be excellent fliers and I would have a tapered wing, which is alot of work to cut each rib by hand. There is still a bunch of work to get the wings ready, but looks to be fun. I'm going to put a link here to a Carden build I've been following, that way you guys can see how the wings get put together.

Edit. Here's the link. It'll take you to the first page, where he starts sheeting the stab at the bottom of the page.

I was just in Streator a few weeks ago. Nice town. Good luck on your project.

Thanks Jeff. I still have to get some measurements and stuff. I need to figure out where to put the firewall, wing, and stab.

I'm trying to think of how I'm going to make the fuse. i might use the Ultimate plans as a guide, but I will legthen it some, plus add a cowl induction hood to it. I might use thicker foam also with two carbon rectangles down each side.

You're not wasting anytime at all! Where did you scrounge them plans? I think I'm going to stick with a foam fuse. It's pretty easy to do. I think I'm going with a two inch thickness though. Going to check the weight of the foam first.

Found it on this site "www.profili2.com" on airobatic page 10, tons of plans on this site. I use Delta Cad to resize and print plans.

Well Bigg, another change in plans. I went to Dynamic Balsa today and ended up getting the 80" Extra 260 foam wings. Need to take about 4 inches off the ends to get them where I need them. Brian gave me a junk foam core to practice on !!!!

Are you going to just use them wings with the other fuse? I haven't did anything yet. My biggest hurdle is making the hole for the wing tube. I'm going to use a wire in my soldering iron to do this. I'll wrap it around the aluminum tube that way it'll be the right size for the socket. Brian told me how he does it but it seems like alot more work.
