Planker07 -> CL 215 form KMP (11/15/2007 12:47:41 AM)

Is there any news about the new CL 215 from KMP. It is susposed to have a 80" wing span and take 2 - 60 sixty 2 strokes.
Fiberglass fuse and built up wing.

shame its going to be water only, no landing gear for land use :(

Wayne22 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/16/2007 5:14:40 AM)

Nothin' wrong with that!! It belongs on the water [:D][:)]

Reccomended engines are .60 4 strokes such as the RCV-60SP they KMP import.

They posted a video but not much more infos. .. it seems just fine to practice those funny splash-and-gos with a sport-scale twin!

I saw then at the Hobby Show couple weeks ago, they had 215 there, its was excellent looking model, they siid its been discountined for newer version CL-415 which they said should be out in couple of months time frame.

AKondor -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/17/2007 3:57:39 AM)

HI Guys:

Just to clear up some possible confusion... The CL-215 is brand new and has not at all been discontinued. In fact it hasn't even been released yet. The first batch is showing up around the end of February. We hope to make a CL-415 as well but that is off in the distance as of now. The CL-215 cowls are much better for cooling. There should be a few more pictures posted on the site now... under the KMP "sport series" I have posted here an actual picture of the model we had on display at the Canadian Hobby Show in Toronto.

Planker07 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/17/2007 5:42:43 AM)

That is excellent news. I have put my deposit down on one at the local hobby shop. Also ordered 2 60 size RCV engines. Lots of time to assemble before the water unhardens in this part of the country. O well back to the Bobcat for now.

AKondor -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/18/2007 1:58:13 AM)

Its a true Canadian classic for sure.... Its awsome to see these (full scale birds) beeing used worldwide and to very good use. Hopefully they (the model) will sell well all over the world ;)

What did you think about the video?

Planker07 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/18/2007 2:29:50 AM)

Vidoe was great, Now if you could just deliver that show plane I would be very happy.

Hi Andrew!

Just a question: the prop hub in the pic are Tru-Turn TTH-1000-A ?

Thank you.

Wayne22 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/18/2007 5:50:29 PM)

video...schmideo......I want the real thing!!!! Cool that you have chosen to do the classic 215. It has got that hairy chested, work horse, stake bed truck look...... much more purposeful than the dainty looking 415!!

Kmot -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/18/2007 7:45:28 PM)

Yeah, the 215 is awesome! Glad you are sticking with the radial engine version.

Black Drape -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/18/2007 10:07:49 PM)

Andrew

is your CL 215 going to be able to pick up water? I built one from RCM Plans and it will pick up about a quart of water and drop it. It is pretty cool. I do like yours though, it looks a lot more scale than mine.

Ron

AKondor -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/22/2007 4:57:44 PM)

Hi Guys:

A couple of things...

First the hubs I used were the 1.25 flanged (not sure on the number) We stock them and sell them with the props and engines.
Second, unfortunately this model as its made can not pick up water. I am sure that with some enginuity one can create the system to do it but for now that is an aftermarket project.

The plane can easily handle a significant payload though... its quite light and has a large high lift wing so it is well within what the plane is capable of handling as additional weight.

Right, they're the TTH-1250-A you sell for your B25 then:

Thank you for the info Andrew.

oliverinfw -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/27/2007 8:11:58 AM)

Mine is on order as well. February seems a long time away. In the meanwhile, I'll keep playing with the Mariner. In Fort Worth, it's a year round event[:D]

AKondor -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/28/2007 1:04:48 AM)

year-round eh!..... lucky you. This morning it was -14 C. All hopes of water flying are gone now until Spring up here. 8 cm of snow expected tonight. Maybe its a good thing the plane can fly of snow too :)

Kmot -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/28/2007 4:41:46 PM)

LOL... In 1974 I took a trip in May from Virginia up to Ontario, and then west to BC. I drove through Thunder Bay, and it took three days of driving around that giant lake before the great lake ice even started to look broken up! Even as I crossed Canada, I still could see Piper Cubs parked on the ice in the middle of small lakes (ponds to you guys). In the middle of May! [:)]

Planker07 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/29/2007 4:22:23 AM)

On my way home from our Nov. model aircraft meeting the temp read -29 degrees C.
Thats at 9:00 pm so I would think we should hit -30 easy tonight.

Wayne22 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (11/29/2007 4:41:01 AM)

where's that?

......ahh...never mind, I figured it out [:D] [:D]

oliverinfw -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (12/9/2007 6:59:16 AM)

I saw on the website that this aircraft uses 13 servos. I can't figure out where it can use them all. Depending on configuration, I can only see 8-10 at the most. Can anyone enlighten me?

Wayne22 -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (12/9/2007 6:28:56 PM)

I count nine.....

AKondor -> RE: CL 215 form KMP (12/20/2007 5:23:12 AM)

hI Guys:

2 - Ailerons
4 - Flaps
2 - Throttle
2 - Elevator
1 - Rudder
1 - water rudder

I guess thats 12.... Need to take another look why the factory says 13.
