I finaly have my C47 in RAF Dakota camo. You realy have to see this model to appreciate the quality and finish, I can honestly say KMP have out done their previous products. The model arrived in a huge crate via common carrier, yup its that big! the crate is a cardboard honeycomb thing and so the model is well packed and suffered no transit damage, I had a couple of areas that were chipped on the edges but I dont think it was shipping damage because the box was undamaged and the parts well wrapped with none of the chips in the bag. I got the scale retracts as an option and I went with the full composite wing, a little pricey but once I got the bits in my hand I forgot about the cost. The retracts are awesome, air up and down with functioning oleos. Machined wheels with tires mounted. The only negative I can offer is the manual, KMP still have a bit of work to do there but I have their Hurricane so Im used to the way they do things.

It looks good. Do you have flaps on the wing? So bad though that rudder shape is not scale (the bottom junction with the tail should not be straight but diagonal). Anyways fiber wings looks good. Are there many rivets and panel lines?

keep posting and if you can post a pic of retract that would be great.

thanks

Yes the wings and all surfaces are fully detailed. I spoke to KMP about the paint chips and they are gonna take care of that issue, Paul is great to deal with and I realy appreciate him taking time to talk to me when I call...Thanks Paul. Im attaching a pic of the gear as you requested.

Yes that is a great looking plane. Those are the first pict's of the retracts and yes they look great as well. I hope they all fit as well with no modifation work needed. I keep hearing the same thing in reguards to KMP planes, the manuals need lots of work on them. Which I have been building planes for years so I don't think it would be a problem for me.

I want to buy the plane in the C47 Vietman colors. But again I would like to see one or two of these built before I spend the money. This is a very expensive plane for an ARF. The plane is so detailed and that is a plus also. What size engines are going to use? I was thinking of two Satio 125's. You want to run something that will fit inside the cowl.
Keep the pictures coming on the building of the plane.

Thanks Walt

Hey walt
Im thinking about 20 Zenoha G20 spinning 13 X 8 3 blades, very scale looking and 13 inches is the max prop size. You do have a point about fitting inside the cowls so i might reconsider the powerplants and go with a couple of 4 strokes. The retracts are awesume.....I set them up and did some extends and retracts....very cool! I know it was expensive but like I said once you actualy see the quality and detail you wont even remember how much it cost, price out the TF kit (the TF kit is very high quality as well) then add scale gear, covering, glue, time etc and its gonna cost plenty too, even if you do a stella job on finishing you wont get this sorta detail. When I can figure how to take a real close up pic I will get some posted showing the internal detail, a sort of honeycomg kevlar with a composite shell, very high tech. Oh and I just figured out the wings ARE in three pieces so I dont need a trailer for the ship to travel in

ZayZay1, I thought that it was a one piece as well! after reading the "instructions" numerous times I noted that they wanted the spar joiner fuel proofed.....read into it a bit more and they have you drill holes and install blind nuts into outer wing and then use screws from inside the nacelles. Realy quite a simple idea and I see no reason it wont work.

Could someone post a picture of the bottom of the nacelle where the landing gear mounts?
I'm still waiting for my kit and want to see what the mounts look like.
I'll be doing this:

yep zenoah 20's already have them and with the bennet mufflers.

electrics seem like a bad choice thought of it but when the maximum prop diameter is only 13" if you go with anything larger you will have to cut into the fuse for clearance. And electrics seem to make power comparable to combustion only with larger props.
