hehe- maybe its had time to think about what it has done while in time-out, and would want to work for me Would you be willing to sell it to someone, or does it not deserve to fly again?

OK. I had one flight with the pump and I am impressed.

This may have solved all my issues. I am being cautiously optimistic as I only got one flight in today for testing.

If I get a streak of great flights I might call it fixed.

I was very skeptical about adding an oscillating perry pump.

I was thinking there is no way this thing is going to work. It has to be a gimmick to sell more stuff. When I had to back off the main needle 2 turns I thought to myself, "this just might work".

Then I got to fly for 8 minutes(instead of the usual 4). I threw every stunt I new at the plane. My smile just kept getting bigger.

I sure hope this wasn't a fluke and I will get to experience that much fun over and over again.

Thanks for everyones help and suggestions on this one.

Got two more flights in before the rudder servo stripped out.

I am officially calling it fixed.

RCA:

Glad to have another convert to the "Perry Pump Gang."

Now we have to convince you to use the carbs. Haw.

How on earth did you manage to strip the rudder servo? Were you hovering and bouncing the tail on the ground?

Bill.

I always run cheap servos in a plane until I get the bugs worked out. Less pucker factor on dead stick.

I had a 3004 futaba servo on 5 cells and a long servo horn.

I was coming in for a landing in 15-25 mph winds with full flaps deployed. As I got about 2 ft off the deck the wind went away and it smacked a three pointer in the tall grass.

Now that it flies good it is time to put some good servos in it and make the radio gear reliable.

Had the same problem with short runs and dead sticks on my cermark pitts with a 180. Here is what I did. Replaced the presure line from the muffler, switched to a type F plug, switched to YS 20/20 fuel, richened the low end adjustment 1/2 turn, and opened the high end by about 3/4 turn. Its propped with a 17/8 apc and runs like a different engine now. Mid and low ranges are solid and low to high response is instant. I always idle up in spins but don't bother anymore in all other maneuvers. I was going to pull this engine but i'm glad i didn't. With the 20/20 fuel I can get 20 min. flights on a 24oz. tank. Don't think 30% would go that far with the high speed opened up 5 or 6 like you 'd have to. Great engine Saito. I rely enjoy my Pitts now.
