Status: offline 		I popped the bearings out and went in search of new ones. Couldn't find them so I ordered new ones online. I put the old ones back in. Oddly enough, the side play went away when I did that.

I noticed dark oil residue in the bearing seat for the large rear bearing. I guess they aren't dry bearings. But I ordered the impregnated silicon nitride type. Maybe using skate bearing oil on a regular basis will quiet these things down since they appear to be standard grade oil bearings. My guess is that they get noisy after the lube is gone.

I checked my Mejzlik prop and it's fully balanced and centered.

Status: offline 		Returning wife's with or without a receipt tends to be fairly expensive albiet depending on the problems and the model, ecspecially the ones that get loud and won't shut up after a little use may seem like it's worth it. Make sense?

By the way I am learning so much from this thread. I'm runnig the AXI but I think some of the problems are very much the same. Mike

Status: offline 		Changed props today to the 20X15 and that is the prop for me.. 59 amps WOT.

I liked the 21X13W but level flight was lacking, vertical was insane.....

I am very pleased with the 12T and would recommend this motor over the 11T.

and yes, 2DogRC has fantastic customer service.

Status: offline 		Today I got to try out the new bearings. I installed some ABEC-7 ceramic ball type bearings from VXB ($$). The front bearings were dry lube and the rear was sealed and lubed. It had no side play at all. Ran great, smooth and quiet. But, I could hear the dry bearings on the ground. It wasn't a bad sound, it was just different. I might oil them, since VXB said they can run dry or oiled.

It was a little breezy so I tested the APC 20x15 again. It was better in the wind than the Mezjlik 20x5x12. I will probably run the APC when it is above 10mph.

I noticed that Chuck saw 59 amps WOT with his APC 20x15. I was at a peak of 68, typical of about 63 measured with the watts-up meter. That was with the flightpowers.

All in all, I was pretty happy with today's performance. We'll see how it goes.

I am getting more and more impressed with the Zippy-R pack from hobbycity/united hobbies. At $117 per pack they are a steal ($234 for a 10s set). So far I have 18 flights on mine and they are like new. I ordered another set. The cheapo Hextronik packs are in the saltwater bucket and died at 20 flights (swelled up so much I was afraid of them), but by 15 they were dying. These look great so far. Not quite as good as the flightpowers, but for half the price and for a 4500mah pack they are noteworthy to say the least. These are supposedly Korean cells, the other Zippys and Hextroniks are chinese.

I figured I would chime in here. I have had a couple of you guys get some replacement motors and was wondering if I could get some runtime stats from you all. For example I just replaced a motor that had over 100 flights on it. What kind of life do you guys have your DS motors. The reason I ask is that we are trying to determine the age and break point. For example if all the motors that had damage had over 100 flights lasted 1-2 years or competition level flying, including some prop testing that may have exceeded the motors limitations, that is pretty good.

I can tell that some of the motors are over 1 year old from the packing. We outsourced our packing and shipping and they sucked! The would put a battery in a box and put 1 piece of paper on the top. Now we have shipping in house and is 150% better!

Thank you for any input and I will get this directly to Dualsky as they are curious on the this issue.

Thanks for the replacements.. Worked perfect at the contest this weekend!!
I bought all new props just in case I had a bad one, balanced the tips and hubs which I feel is very important with the apc's.
I'm not sure that everyone realizes the importance of balancing the hub's with an outrunner.. Also, balancing the spinner is essential.. I think with an outrunner, there should be something in the paperwork telling everyone this.

One of my motors had 30-40 flights on it, the other had 10.
They were both purchased probably 6 months ago I think.. I know they were in a larger box just rolling around back then. The packaging is much better now.. Great job!

I just ran my Black Magic V3 for the first time this weekend....put about 16 flights on it with Dualsky 12T, a APC 20X13 using a Jeti Spin 99 and Flight power F3A packs. I'm pulling about 68 amps max and the motor is running cool. Plenty of power though I'm ordering a 20X15 to try. I had one "wierd noise" episode....loud grinding noise when throttling up after a downline....I have had this occasionally with my AXI 5330F3A as well, and have finally just stopped worrying about it. Thinking that it might be a timing problem due to overspeeding of the prop in the downline, I engaged the "soft brake" on the speed controller and didn't get the noise again so far.

Chuck, I hope to see you at Glen's this weekend.

As you know, I have been running Dualsky motors for the past couple years. I am still running my original 12T in my Genesis, and the 11T in my Brio. The 12T is my 'go to' motor and has over 400 flights on it at this point. The 11T has over 150 with no issues. I have replaced bearings in both but I couldn't tell any difference after the replacement.

All in all, I consider the DS 6360s to be a great value.

Mark, do you know if there have been any manufacturing changes since the early 6360 motors. Like I said, I have very early ones and am curious if there have been any changes over the past couple years.

One note, all my motors have been nose ring mounted which splits the prop loads and the motor/can loads on either side of the mount. I think this is mechanically advantageous, however, I am well aware of issues others have had with this mounting technique. Knock on wood, I have had no issues to date.

Status: offline 		I had about 10 flights on my first one, then the prop shaft snapped.

I have around 60-70 flights on my second one. I changed the bearings since it seemed a bit noisy and had some side-side play. The play went away and it doesn't sound as loud, but that might be my uncalibrated ear. Prop choice also makes a big difference on the noise. Some props seem to buzz more than others.

Both motors were packed in small boxes and shipped in larger boxes. I can't recall what the larger box packing was like.

Hello Mark

I have had one 6360 11T fail after about 50 flights. It started making noise at about 50% throttle, and inspection revealed cracks in one of the arms on the can. It also had a crack in the can itself. I got a replacement from the Norwegian distributor, and that one have about 25 flights on it with no issues.

Both of these motors where delivered to Norway from DS in february this year, so I suppose they are produced recently.

I'm considering a electric conversion of my Genesis currently powered by a OS 140RX. The nose structure of the Genesis seems very weak originally with the large cooling holes. Have you reinforced it with carbon mat or something like that? Do you have a picture of your nose ring mounting?

My first thought would be to make a new firewall, but I haven't decided yet.
