Can i just remind you that my F-4 is NAVY version and on the nose gear door i should have the RED< YELLOW, Green lights. please ask for NAVY version from the light manufacturer, (Please check Their site) http://www.details4scale.com./ .

Status: offline 		Anton, how are you operating the little outer gear door? I dont see any linkages or cylinders attachments.

Also do you offer the patterns for the wood pieces you made in this thread? Such as the main door mounts, the inner wing rib mount for the door cylinder and such?

I am building the SkyMaster F4 Jolly Rogers and I am at the point of installing the hardware into fuse. After trail balance it seems that this bird is tail heavy.

Have others found this jet to be tail heavy, if so how much weight was needed in the nose??

By the way, I cut intake duct work to move turbine forward, and placed all batteries, fuel pump, ECU, and air actuaters in front area. Batteries are in the nose.

Status: offline 		Kevin, post some pics of your install if you can, I am doing a hardware install as well and am interested in seeing your layout. I have heard that these are indeed pretty tail heavy and will requires nose weight. I am putting an Olympus in the one I am building for a customer but did not cut the ducting although the engine is pretty much as far forward as I can make it.

very exciting to hear about the olympus install. got any pix you can share?

Adil had mentioned previously that the engine bay area was large enough to handle the beast. That would be my engine of choice for this large bird assuming you could carry 160 oz of gas to feed the fire breather. might have to add a functional centerline to bring up the total fuel capacity. Just a guess tho'

A couple of days ago I measured the capacity of the tanks supplied by SM. The forward tank is 80 oz. and each of the main tanks 56 oz., UAT 4 oz., total 196 oz.

heck yeah bro'!!!! chop off the intake and slide her forward.

U might want to paint the lower fuse from 1/2 of the motor to the aft former with a couple layers of heat shield or some sort of 1/2 shell bypass etc.. that ol' girl gets hot as hell when she's running and is at it's hottest when it's at idle. minimal air flow around the motor etc.

I didn't realize the amount of space in the engine bay very encouraging to say the least!!!

good luck with the build and first flights etc. the Olympus is gonna make her dance.

Here is my install. With this setup I have 3 Nimh batteries in the nose, 2 4200 mah 5 cell for RX and a 6cell 3200mah supplied by jetcat for ECU and mine came out slightly nose heavy. I think I am at 280. This is only static CG and Have not maidened the jet yet. I guess we will find out at Buttonwillow...YEAH>>>>.
Also you can see where my pipes ended up. I am hoping they have enough downtthurst and dont fry the UNDERTAIL...
I believe my batteries weight around 3 pounds.

Looking great Ian....Cut that ducting as much as you can and leave room for a FOD screen. We will be using the three batteries, so keep the turbine battery till the end, for the balance.

(I may have the engines for the other one, Will keep you posted)

Status: offline 		I installed a C-arf Lightning duct, a Tam pipe and moved everything way forward, had to make a new inlet ducting and move forward fuel tank partially into forward part of fuse.
CG came out at 300mm with the JC P-180, works nice and runs very cool.

Status: online 		Hi all i'm building my F4c and all is good...I'm looking to install the cockpit but it looks to be to BIG..... About 10mm to each way..... Do you have to trim of some from both sides.... Not gona be easy..... Any sugestions would be nice i hate to cut it up if not needed.....

Status: offline 		The bypass would help Ehab since the airlines for the gear are underneath the turbine, but I was planning on putting a sheet of SS all under the turbine to protect the air hose. The only thing I am concerned about with a full bypass is that monster filling up all the bypass and choking down the airflow cause the Oly is so big. Plus, it may not fit into the bypass you have.

Status: offline 		The bypass I have was designed to fit the Oly beast, so it should be no problem if we decide to do it. I beleive in full bypass when ever possible.

I am fitting my turbine P-160 in to my F-4. can i ask the ones with F-4 experience to have a look at the pictures and let me know if the location of the Turbine looks ok. I have pushed it as forward as possible but the tail cone distance makes me a bit worried.

I would be more concerned about not getting enough (or not at all in this case!) bypassed air, you need to cut the inlet to allow that. Otherwise the engine will run very hot.

Status: offline 		No i havent put the FOD and yes the by pass air flow is another concern but how about the ehaust gas is there a psossibility that some of it comes out of the tail cone in to the fuse?.

Status: offline 		I think your fine on the back end but you could move the turbine back a little more and open up the top half of the inlet duct to get some bypass air.
