Hey Guys,

Im slowly getting there but im almost finished building my Yak 86".. I have a question in regards to my Elevator and aileron servos...

Im running Hitec 5985's, power supplied by 2x Fromeco 2600's going through a Fromeco Wolverine Switch into a fromeco regulator with it output set to 6 volts. Did I mention its running on XPS 2.4 Ghz (10 ch RX) could this be the problem?

Ok here is the problem, when I move the sticks fast back and forth there is no problems, but if i go throughout the range of travel at half the speed the servos vibrate making the surfaces vibrate. This appears more so when going down travel on the elevators. But happens all the way through travel going back and forth

Please Help

Thanks In Advance

Try plugging the servos and battery directly into the RX and see if the problem still exists, then one by one replace all that gubbins you have fitted and see which one starts the problem again, IMO don't put them back in, it just adds weight and complications and something else to fail, you don't need them for a 50cc plane.

Sorry make sure you use a 4.8 or 6volt battery not the LiPo's that I think you have.

Whats wrong with using Regulated power? All the top Giant scale competition flyers do it why cant I?.

Anyways I have tried using a standard 4 cell battery and still no fix, the vibration is still there.
I plugged in my servo programmer and used the manual feature to cycle the servo and vibration is still there.. How can every servo i own be like this? They are all brand new?

Its like they only do it in this plane.

HELP

Some florescent lights I have had in my shop have given me similar symptoms, If you have them in there turn out the lights and give it a try?

You can use them if you want, but the top Giant scale competitors don't pay for them, I think the Regulator use is manufacturer driven at that level, waste of money and one more thing to go wrong, you don't need them on a 50cc plane in my and others Opinion.

Try repositioning your Rx airial, bring it out of the fus and see if that makes a difference, other than that you may have a Tx or Rx problem.

It has nothing to do with the Radio system, I have plugged the servos into my Hitec servo programmer and gone into manual mode and cycled the servos with the same vibration throughout the whole stab. Its either the servos or the airframe?

It´s because of big "heavy" rudders and small/short servoarm/horns used on high torque digital servos.

Try to widen the deadband in the servo with your programmer just one or two numbers and see if it helps - I think i does.
Afterwards remember to check that your servos still center very good - if not adjust the deadband more narrow again - if it then starts to vibrate again then you must move the link a hole in on the servoarm and increase the travel in your transmitter instead.

Regards from Denmark

I have tryied programming the deadband to fix it, but it still happened, i have not tried moving the linkage closer to the servo on the arm yet. Its still on the most outer arm. But why do other people not have problems and I do?

so...you are recommending using 2 cell LiIon packs direct into the receiver?

haha i know how stupid was that. You must use a regulator. But anyway does any one know what I can do to fix this problem?

RCFreak,

If you disconnect the servo from the control surface does the servo still vibrate?

Have you tried reseting the servos using you programmer?

I use 5955TG's in my 73" and they're great.

Cheers
Jason.

Without the control surface attached there is no vibrations... What could be the problem then? Keeping in mind im using all the stock linkage and ball links. I have checked the linkage and its free and easy movement, no friction, So what could the problem be?

With no linkage the servo sounds completely normal, with the linkage and control surface hooked up there is a terrible vibration noise..

Please help

A silly question... You have used digital servos before haven't you?

It's perfectly normal for digital servos to make a singing noise. This is especially evident when the servo is loaded.

Cheers
Jason.
