hilifemt,

How much does it cost to rebuild the motor? Im sure there will come a time when I will have to pocket out a rebuild. I highly doubt AE will keep rebuilding and replacing motors for me at no cost! I still have a Baja 26cc motor sitting on the bench that I have to rebuild. HPI gave me all the parts, just been too lazy and busy to sit down and rebuild that motor!

OH, by rebuilt I meant I took it apart and cleaned it all up. The engine was still in fine shape, just needed to remove the water. Im not sure what it cost to rebuild a 8.0 engine. I assume you mean just the piston and sleeve? It''s always a good idea to replace the con rod too if rebuilding. I would imagine all those parts seperate arent much cheaper than a complete engine off ebay. When my last engine died, I replaced it with the same engine, that way I have some spare parts just in case. It worked out for me now since I had a spare cooling head to replace the trashed one.

Yah... when I was talkin to the AE tech to see if I had to do all this myself how much it would cost.. he said Pistion and Sleve was like over 80 bucks! Im like dude.. you can get a brand new engine on EBAY for a little over 100. He was like yah that would be a better way to go.

What settings are you guys using for bashing? I have an 8.0. When I bought it the hobby shop helped me do the break in tanks then he set the needles and said it was good. I have a really nice place to bash right across the street, big hills to climb and nice jumping areas and even a giant big grass area to open it up in. I have a few videos I have taken but I suck at driving still and am pretty embarassed to put them up yet. I almost have backflips down though and have some good climbs did jump about 60 feet but landed band and crushed the left front A arms and shocks and a few other things. Anyways back to the main question. The hobby shop guy said it was a good tune but where he was running was a really small parking lot and it was pavement so it wasn't pushing this beast of an engine. When I got it home and down in my area to bash it seemed like it was getting pretty hot so I just richened up the hsn quite a bit. It spits lots of smoke but still moves and can pull wheelies pretty good. I know it could be leaner for faster wheelies but am afraid to push it too far. After a few tanks the back shocks and wheelie bar and everything have a pretty darn thick covering of oil and muck. I read this is too rich? I have dual tanks installed for the long run times and love it. I guess I could put a vid on just so you guys can see and hear the tune? Or where do I get the settings, and do those general settings work well for all 8.0's? Or are they all a bit different? Thanks again everyone you have all been a great resource.

Just tune it for performance..Lean it out as much as possible until you don't notice any performance gain and then richen it back up a 1/4 turn.

What do you guys like in Proline track wheels and tires? I was thinking of trying a set of Wabash 40's on with either Bowtie's or Crimefighters for use at the track. The guy at my lhs said bring the truck in and we can test fit the wheels as the Wabash wheels are basically all inside offseted and wanted to make sure my turning radius stays intact and doesn't limit me. The tracks over here are pretty much hard packed Georgia clay and while they wet them down, they dry up fast down here in the blazing sun and heat.

Are the Proline white wheels all dyable by the way? I wanted to take the white wheels and die them black as well.

Cool...I used to die my white nylon RC10 chassis parts black all the time....I forgot once I start to boil the water how long should I dip each wheel in there to get a sufficient coating on it? Or should I turn it down below a boil and not warp the wheel? I'm thinking they will make a nice tough looking set of race wheels for the monster....Might even just do up another set in black with new bashing tires as well.

Thanks

LogicFree,

Very easy to replace, however be careful to do the meshing correctly. I didn't know about such a thing as meshing the first time I removed and reinstalled mine and ended up stripping a few teeth immediately. Its easy to remove and replace just as long you as you understand gear meshing.

To my knowledge and I have an 8.0, it's a standard SG crank.

Well I went up to my LHS yesterday and tried on the Proline Wabash in the 40 series using the Proline adapters and they rubbed on the inside against the Tie Rods. I thought they would have a clearence problem as they offer no offset at all. I know I have seen MGT's online with these wheels on them...I think using RPM arms...But still that doesn't change the geometry/location of the tierods...I wonder how they did this.

The standard velocity dish wheels will work fine, too bad they only had one pair of them.

So anyone figure out the clearance issue on those Axial beadlock rings no clearing and limiting steering travel? I wonder if the Proline beadlock wheels will do the same?
