Racing is fun but so different and all that technical stuff you disregard when you bash REALLY means a lot when you get on a track!

Aloha!

Your a mad man with the CRT (That thing looks pretty quick and bounces back), But drive your Eight pretty decently. I guess if I managed to get more time on my hands and could hit the track more and more, I would probably buy a buggy. I already own a big Monster, why not get and F1 car lol Do love the trucks though.

The new bash spot I intend on getting some "epic" footage from... My MGT needs some serious TLC... time to take out those diff's and pretty much clean the whole thing, top to bottom... then I'm off to this spost!

Those MMGT are pretty fast! I got a buddy with one and it seems to keep up fine with my 8.0 on a flat ground. It cant climb a 30ft 70 degree ramp very well though!

Update......

Have seen the 8.0 Headers in stock elsewhere, but no Option pipes yet. Called AE this afternoon and they of course have the Option headers as well, but no pipes either. So I said when should they be in, it's been a long while coming. I figured soon as they finally have the headers on hand......So they told me mid next week they get another order in and very well possible the pipes will be on it. So who know's but hopefully it shouldn't be that long before we have a new power adder for the beast.

What temperature do ya'll have your MGT 8.0's running at? Mine will simply not move anywhere enless the temp is above 290. 290-350 is the optimum for my truck. Does that sound crazy, or does anyone else have that issue? (it's a new engine btw)

Sounds crazy....New engine assuming a new glow plug installed and the engine is mechanically perfect then(look it over and make sure the carb is fitted perfectly, head screws tight, etc, etc..... I guess your needle settings must be way off??? Fresh fuel? Fuel lines all good and tank air tight?

Did you use the base settings that were listed here? One of the guy's posted them several pages back and the starting point that AE's suggests. There actually very good to start with. Did you break the motor in already? Obviously you will have to richen those settings up to start. But overall seems like you running rich if it does not run right until it heats up like that.....Then again to run happily and get up to 290 - 350 it seems like the motor is severly on the lean side....Not safe well over 300 for long. Wondering if your sucking in air and have a leak in the motor somewhere as well.

I've switched out the plug already to an OS 8. I'll try another one today. Yes, fresh fuel. I switched from JAC pro fuel 20% to O'Donnell 20% and don't see a change. New fuel lines and bulb. New tank. I broke the engine in according to AE. But when i called them, they told me that the settings that were written in the book are incorrect and here are a new settings blah blah blah. So i'm going to give them a call today and see what they say. Thanks!

Use the revised settings they gave you over the phone and not the books...They are all wrong...I had to find out the hard way a while back. I used to run MC59 plugs with 20 percent and switched to MC9's and 30 percent. Truck runs stronger and cooler now...Was taking a little longer to heat up and make full power...But think I was also running a little too rich still and recently leaned it a tad.....Should warm up a little faster now. Still 290-350 before it even starts to run good is way off....Something is wrong big time.

SycoCell,

Run the settings that I posted a few pages back. These settings are directly from AE, and they are correct do not follow the manual. With the settings the AE tech gives me the truck fires up easily even after they gave me a brand new motor. When they replaced my motor with a brand new one and I used the settings they told me to use the breakin went through flawlessly, nothing like what I went through with the manuals settings.

As for the temp running really high, did you lean the needle settings to get it to move? I had a problem with my first engine where I had to lean it practically 1 turn out on both low and high just to get it to move! And even with one turn out the car was still spitting out fuel as if it was running rich. But I did not know what temps it was running at. AE found out the reason for this was something broke in my pipe. After cutting my pipe in half they realized a piece broke inside.

Another thing, is your engine reving really high before it starts moving? Could it be slipper clutch or the clutch slipping? Did you modify the exhaust header in anyway? Just throwing out some possible things to look at. Currently my truck with those AE settings is running about 220, and its running fine for me. Dont need to lean it out anymore,

That was not my 8ight, that was Shawn (Shawnofthedead) and he is pretty good. I dont know what was up with my Revo... I need to put some crime fighters on it for sure... The CRT.5 is such a fun car. It is tough as nails and can handle running with the big boys. It is one of my favorite.

Are you using a temp guage? Make sure that is dialed in... I get mine running at 260 sometimes...
