Yeah no springs in there....I think the 4.6 version does though. I think that slipper clutch on the 8.0 is like a last resort safety to keep you breaking something if you get 100% traction and the truck get's stuck or something instead of tearing something up. As the 8.0's engine would keep that clutch slipping all the time with the torque it put's out and so much power would be lost. Without the spring I beleive it allows for the slipper to really be torqued down and like I said only allow slippage in what would be the most extreme condition. Seems like a good setup...have not had a problems.

Ran my 40 series Commando beadlocks and Moab's around some....The truck handles great with these and you can really take some higher speed turns without rolling it. Nothing seems to put a damper on that .50 motor as even though I know I added a bit or rotating weight which is the worst kind...The truck still rides out wheelies and get's up and go. I cannot not even detect it slowing down any.

Can't wait for the option pipe to come in next week....Wonder what the truck will sound like and where it will add the extra power. I think the truck will be cleaner towards the back with the side mounted pipe as well.

Dunno at this point....Stay tuned and I will report back my findings and how much it add's to the truck. I am sure since they are out now...there should be plenty of feedback coming soon. I think you just received your truck??? Don't worry there is so much power on tap....It will be a while before you really want to even add more to it. The truck in stock form powerwise is a crazy thing....Always put's a smile on my face.

I calculated how much it would cost and it would be 90 dollar if I shipped it with UPS or 48 if I shipped it with Priority Mail International. That's pretty cheap since 1 dollar is 5.90 swedish crowns. Sooo that's = 290 Swedish Crowns if shipped with Priority Mail International and that is cheap. The 4500 mah battery in the starter cost 450 when I bought it in Sweden. (Team Orion battery.)

Hey Tuc how was the power and speed on the XL by the way? Did having 3 gears seem to add a bit more on the top end or do you rarely get into it?

k223,

I've never really been able to get more than 1/2 a tank on that truck so hard to tell if it has any power! Since HPI and none of the LHS has that part it may be out of commission for a while! I just got a Kyosho ST RR today with OS Speed VZB V-Spec AL. Im going to convert my 8ight T to a NEU Brushless setup, so my next few days will have bigger thing that the Savage XL!

I guess the brushless conversions for many of the nitro 1/8th scale vehicles seems pretty interesting....But you still are pushing a bigger, heavier 1/8th scale vehicle then just running a small 1/10th scale vehicle with the same setup. I now brushless rocks especially in the 1/10's, but wonder how they are fairing in the heavier vehicles?

Received my 8.0 Option pipe and header yesterday. If you ever saw the old EK-4 pipe it pretty much looks exactly like it. It's a real fat conventional looking tuned pipe. It's polished aluminum like the EK-4 or stock muffler.

Once I get it on the truck and run it, I will report back it's performance. I should add you will need to use the wire mount and plastic coupler form the stock muffler and header for the new setup as AE did not include this. Or you can just pick up these peices new at your LHS.

Wondering what it will sound like....Hmmm

K223,

The brushless conversion is faster than nitro! My buddy put a 4000kv brushless motor (goes up to 9000kv) on his 1/8 truggy and man that thing we clocked in at 65mph! It was flying over the driver stand (20-30 ft) in the air at Revelation Raceway and it wheelies at high speeds! It is crazy! He literally mowed the 1ft high weeds with that truck at one of the bashing spots we go to. I think the future of RC's will be brushless. I know there are brushless conversions for MGT's too. What I hear is that with electric conversions since our monster trucks have tranny's it will tear up the tranny instantly because these motors are spinning at over 60,000 RPM's vs the fastest nitro maxing out at 45,000 RPM. But there are videos on YouTube of brushless MGT's.
