I just got my pizza box flyer in the air and have got many flights on it, I have a .40 LA on it and i am wondering if they make a folding prop for that big of an engine, i think it would be much easier to not have to worry about breaking a prop. I do know how to set the prop up so it shuts off horizontally but i still think a folding prop would be the best,

Thanks,
Austin

Don't know about the folding prop, but setting your regular prop is very easy. You want the prop to be horizontal as it comes up on compression. Put your prop and nut on , but not tightened. turn the crank shaft counter-clock wise until you feel the compression. Tighten the nut there with the prop horizontal. Now, when you shut the engine down, the prop will move to that position because of the air flow.

I was recently researching folding props for an electric conversion for my sail plane. NONE of the folding props currently available would be suitable for the application you're talking about. I'm pretty sure they're not rated for the RPM range you'd be talking about. Just set the engine so it windmills to the 3 and 9 position and belly land it dead stick. I've had a couple belly lander spads, and never broke a prop.
