Hi
I am about tp start building my Zeque 70 ( birthday present) and the first thing that struck me was that the engine is hard mounted to the fuselage. Has anyone built and flown this beast and if so does hard mounting work out OK or have people fitted Vibration dampening mounts if so which one? Also any other hints and tips about the build would be most welcome.

I have seen a number of YS63's hard mounted without issue. Personally, I would use a Hyde Mount part number HCMYS63A from Central Hobbies. http://www.centralhobbies.com/Engines/mounts/hydmnts.html

PS. Where did you get the "Mini Zeque" from?? I have been trying to get one for ages [:o]

I got mine from Noel Barratt Models in Cork Ireland. But surely there must be someone closer to you that stocks the plane. I am sure Noel would sell you one but the carriage would be a killer.

HI,
they are a great model,had one for months and just sold it on,hard mounting works fine,use the hatori header and pipe and she is very quiet,done three gallons and no vibration issue at all,hope you enjoy.

Ive got one too and theres no way im selling mine! Great plane, really locks in well, snaps are crisp and it slows down really well for landings.

I soft mounted my YS63 with iso bobbins and use the hattori short pipe. tettra fuel tank mounted over the c of g and used a flightpower evo20 7.4v lipo through a powerbox digi switch (regulator)

Putting this plane together is super easy and quick, I like the way the firewall is marked out and the engine mount predrilled.

Bad points...the first and really agrevating one is the quality of the covering, mine was peeling off before it even flew so I went about sealingevery edge before hand and the undercarriage legs are a little too soft. A nice carbon set would be a good upgrade.

This plane is expensive...including shipping from Ireland to UK it was around 420 Euros, I cant remember exactly.

I dont actually know how much mine cost as it was a present from my other half. How did you go about sealing down all the edges?

I used a product from Flair called balsaloc, I lifted the edges painted it on then ironed it down when dry, its been ok so far but it was a absolute pain to do and took days!!

Ask around you may find a better product or methos for doing it. But whatever you do...do something as it is a shame to see a lovely looking plane look tatty after a short time.

You might make out Mr Suzuki's signature on the wing, he was the man who designed the Oxai 2 metre Zeque and who was in the Japanese team at the World champs[;)]

i just got a bit bored with the mode!,but flew the model a lot!,and it is a great model to fly!,you will love it .model was bought by a fellow club member and is still going strong now!!!.

I can't see why you couldn't just go with a hard mount, are you going to be competing with this?

Mine is using hard mount coming from the kit without any problems, the vibration from YS61 is not strong and also the plane is constructed strong enough to stand with this normal vibration.

The tail of this little pattern ship is so powerful. I needed to dial in much more exp than the recommended data by Suzuki and am still taking time to get used to it. Snap is extremely crisp and precise which is the most impressive feature of this little toy and I had so much fun to play around with snap maneuvers.
The only complaint happens on the elevator linkage system which uses a U shape metal stuff to link up two elevator halves. I found it is a bit flexible to hold the another halve tightly. I am going to modify it to see if there is any improvement on precision aspect.

Using futaba 9202's in the ailerons and 9405's on the rudder and elevator on mine. Only because thats what I had laying around.

If I didnt have them I would have gone with the standard futaba digitals (3152)

I am finally putting my Zeque 70 together and I trial fitted the cowl last night and it seems very tight. Did anyone else have the same problem and if so how did you get round it. Also I notice that the Joiner for the Elevator halfs seems a bit loose, did anyone else have the same problem and if so what did they do with it. I am thinking of packing mine with Epoxy and prejoining it on a bench before fitting the tail in place.

My cowl is a tight fit but not so tight it causes a problem.
My elevator joiner was fine, filled the holes with epoxy and pushed it in, lined up fine.

I recently took the soft mount off mine as it was too soft and the engine movement was wearing the 'O' ring in the hatori pipe prematurely, its all going great again.

Lovely little plane!

May I ask how you mounted your fuel tank. I have an 11oz Tettra on order but looking at the pics it is hard to see how it can be secured but still be able to remove it. Any chance you could shed some light on this?
Also what spinner did you use?

Heres some pics of my tank installation.
The tank sits on the 2 angled formers in the fuz, between these 2 formers I epoxied 2 balsa rails between the formers just for the zip tie to go aound to secure the tank.
Supplied with the kit is the peice of ply with the hole in it to hold the front of the tank, I made up a couple of angled wedges and epoxied them at the base of the plate and then glued them in place on the front angled former.
At the back of the tank you can see a peice of balsa glued to the servo tray that stops the tank moving backwards.

Theres no need to remove the tank.

I use a White 59mm Irvine plastic spinner with aloy back plate...perfect!
