Belt CP Upgrade to full CF and CNC
I'd already posted some pictures in the Belt CP thread but thought I'd post separately for those that didn't want to go through 8 pages.
I started out with a Belt CP Carbon Fiber version so it came with the CF main body and CNC aluminum head.
I added the following cnc components: motor mount, main gear mount, receiver mount, tail gear mount, tail boom mount, swashplate guide, horizontal fin and tail servo holder, the angle arms that connect your servo rods to the swash plate rods and the full tail system.
Here are some pictures of all the parts before I started

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
I then started adding the various cnc parts to the main frame. I don't think I can put these in any particular order so here they are...

Here are a couple of pics showing all the interior frame upgrades.
I then put the right side back on and installed the angle arms for the servos.

Some pics of everything put back together.... next I'll be adding the motor/esc and electronics.
I'll be putting in hs56hbs on the cyclic, logictech 2100T w/ 9650 on the tail, align 430l 3550kv motor with 35X esc and to control it all an ar7000 receiver.

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
I've had the arf kit for a while but decided to wait till i had all the upgrade parts to start building it.
I've finished installing all the servos and gyro, took some dremel work as the hs56hb's are just slightly larger than the esky ones. I'm thinking of getting the aluminum hitec arms for the servos to match the theme but will test fly this way first.
Just the motor and esc left.

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
Now if only they could sell them like that? lol. Have you tallied up the total price everything said and done, I know we said it was less than a t-rex build but with all that bling and electronics it's gotta come close. I went to get those parts off heli direct couple days after talking about them and they were completely sold out!

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
I haven't tallied it all up yet but will once I'm done. I got the servos used on ebay along with the motor and esc so that helps to keep the price down. It was $200 for the arf kit and I guess around $70 for the upgrades. With the electronics, motor and esc the same for a rex that would still leave me $50 to $100 less than a 450se.
besides, i'm not really doing this for any other reason than to see how much better this thing will fly vs stock and to see how it performs vs the trex 450 when you have similar components.
the arf belt cp cf kit is very similar to the trex 450s cf kit but cheaper. put the same electronics and other components in it and will it fly as well?

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
honestly I dont think it will fly as well, no matter what there will always be a little slop and slower response times, things like roll rate and piro you will notice even with the upgrades. Direct link on the align se plays the major factor difference between the two along with flybar below the blades. Still interesting to see how close you can get flight to t-rex. I look forward to more pics and hopefully some video!

RE: Belt CP Upgrade
ya, i don't really expect the belt cp to fly as well as a trex either regardless of what upgrades I do to it but it'll be interesting to see what it's full potential is. but with better servo's, motor, esc and gyro I think it will be much better than the stock version.

What's the news on the Belt bling bee. You've got me curious, is it all together yet? flying yet? I saw the logitec on the back and it got me wonderin how the flight was going to be. I've been stuck using telebee 500 and sold my gy401 for two more telebee's. Also how much play is there in the head now. Mine as well as many others I've noticed are stiff and sloppy compared to my t-rex which spins freely for a few revolutions of the hand. Has building this version eliminated that "stiffness"?
Have you been getting any snow there? It's been raining non stop and we're almost at flood stage in Victoria

RE: Belt CP Upgrade to full CF and CNC
we've had about 20 cm of snow in the last week so i'm grounded until i find the time to make skis for my king2.
I've been pretty busy with work and home and ugh shopping so the project has been on hold for a week. Everything is good so far, I just have to stick the pinion on the motor (or steal the motor from my stock belt cp) and get the radio set up.

Just as an update. I've got the motor installed now and will be putting the finishing touches on it like getting it set up mechanically over christmas break. She should be ready to fly by the beginning of January.
More pictures to come.

RE: Belt CP Upgrade to full CF and CNC
Sorry man, i started with the carbon fiber kit so all the carbon fiber parts were already in it. It also had the full metal head, plastic tail though.
The parts I added are the metal tail, metal bearing holders and battery plate and the outside levers between the servos and the swashplate.
Here is the [link=http://www.twf-sz.com/english/sjj1.asp?keywords=EK1H-E013]TWF website[/link] where they list all the upgrade parts. There are a few that aren't available yet but you can use the parts numbers to search for them. I find helidirect and ushobbysupply have the best selection in the US but ehirobo has a couple they don't but they are in Hong Kong.

RE: Belt CP Upgrade to full CF and CNC
Druss,
I don't even have my first CP (HBK-II) yet but that custom Belt CP looks cool. How much did it cost to build?
If things go well learning to fly with my King I will be looking at the following models for my 2nd CP heli:
- Belt CP
- Thunder Tiger mini-titan 325
- Align T-Rex 450
- Align T-Rex 500
Dave D.

RE: Belt CP Upgrade to full CF and CNC
If you can afford it get the best heli you can, and while this was a neat project I would not class the belt cp in the same class as the Trex or Mini Titan. Mind you it only cost me about $600 because of the components I used while my trex 450se cost me $800 to build.
