Hello all,

1)
I am looking for a High-speed spur gear conversion kit instead of the standard one.
Can someone please help me with this?

So far the gears I found are:

B3420 - 70T spur gear low speed
B3424 - 63T spur gear high speed
B3341 - 18T/25T clutch bell

18+70=88
25+63=88

All together it makes it 88 teeth, and this is how I think it should be.

Any help/correction/advice is highly appreciated.

2)
Also, what are the best tires for winter/snow?

thats right that is the highest gear ratio you can get for it. 70/63 gears with 18/25 pinions (without upgrading the cb pinions that it)

do you have a forward only conversion kit in the truck?? if not you should think about buying that as that lightens the truck. im not sure whether that increases the gear ration inside the tranny or not but is a good hop up for most lst'ers

you can also do a simple trick to increase the ratio to more top end is to flip the 2 gears that fit inside the tranny. (Forward only convesion kit that is) and that will increase it to give you a good top end but also still be able to wheelie. note: this gear flip will require some shaving of the inside of the tranny to make it all fit.

Thank you guys! Your help is appreciated! This is what I thought, but just wanted to confirm since I don't have much experience with it (never done it before). Will get the conversion kits for the tranny and the spur gear with the pinion.

if I get a pinion set such as 20/27 do I have to upgrade my spur gears as well or can they stay at 63/70?

The 8-Mans Plus Sized Pinions are meant to run with the Stock Spurs.......(And the +2's will go on with out any Modding).....
You'll have to Elongate the Engine mount Holes to run the +3's and higher......to beable to Set and get a Good mesh.......

Delrin Spur Gears - are they strong? Never heard of Derlin. Is it plastic?

The High Speed convonversion set is a 70/65 (its either 64 or 65) tooth convo. Changing the 2nd spur gear to a higher tooth gear will reduce your top speed. I cant remember with post it was but 2DMAX also stated. Much like ive found, the only way your going to get a better top speed out of any LST type truck is by going the custom gear route. Just for Delrin spur gears and some 1320 Performance clutch gears, your going to be in the ball park of $50 or so...

I'm not sure if you're talking about the set IL2mSturmovik linked to or not, but it comes with:
66/19 low speed=3.47:1
59/26 high speed=2.26:1

Whereas the stock gears are
70/18 low speed=3.88:1
63/25 high speed=2.52:1

now i am completely confused...

The indicated ratio:
66/19 low speed=3.47:1
59/26 high speed=2.26:1

Whereas the stock gears are
70/18 low speed=3.88:1
63/25 high speed=2.52:1
......seem to give just a little increase in speed.
I am looking for the maximum speed i can get out of my LST2 by getting the best conversion kit.

Also, Delrin Spur Gears - how strong are they?

Cheers.

There is a post floating around where 2dmax correctly states that the high speed gear set is in fact a close ratio gear set and will actually make the truck slower not faster, as said the only way to go faster is 8man pinion and delrin gears.

INcorrect man.

He's right Losi has a Few So Called "High Speed Gear Sets "
quote:

ORIGINAL: 2DMaxLST!!

Stock High Speed Gears on LST:

spur 63T/pinion 25T = 2.52

High Speed Gear set you mention:
spur 66T/pinion 22T = 3.00

Lets say you could go 40mph now you will go --> 33.6mph

2.52/3.00 = .84 ie you will reduce your top speed by 16%.

It moves second closer to first giving you a close ratio transmission that is good for a small track.
