What do you think the Monster gt is.. Its a rebadged MT A4.

Yes but is the RC8 a re-badged S3? Is the MK2 (or whatever TTR mini's are called) a 18T?

TTR own 100% of AE, TTR are a massive company that own quite a few other rc companies as well. Im sure Jaguar cannot go out and start designing new stuff without Fords blessing, AE I'm certain would need TTR's approval as well.

IMO, with the success, popularity, and experience in racing AE has (compared to TTR) I doubt they will have to answer to TTR to design a racing vehicle.

Yeah but is the MTA4 readily available in the states? and also, if it is readily available, was it available there well before the MGT?

Another thing, although TTR build the MGT, I read in a magazine review that it is actually more AE design, so in fact, you could say the MTA4 is actually a rebadged MGT. I'm not having a crack at TTR, they're awesome trucks/cars, but I still think AE will produce their own truggy, as they did buggy. Maybe Thunder Tiger will adopt AE design truggy and market it to the rest of the world under their name as an 'all new ST-1', and that is why the current ST-1 is the worlds best buy at the moment.

umm if AE went and designed a truggy of there own for the U.S market, wouldn't it be directly competing with the ST-1, that would seem like it's going backwards to me, i think i will just be a rebadged ST-1 for that reason.

Of course they would have to get TTR's blessing, they are the ones who build AE's cars, inlcuding the RC8, 100% built in Taiwan by TTR, designed by AE. This isnt rocket science guys, AE hasnt built anything on their own for years.

Just like the RC8 is directly competing with the EB4?

Thats my point. TTR won't have much, if any input on the design of any AE car. They know that the R&D team AE has it one of the best and TTR won't want to interrupt that and risk losing money and ruining AE's name.

Well all i can say is that when Team Associated bring out a new PRO truggy to better the Thunder Tiger ST-1 PRO, it had better be the meanest, fastest, toughest and hardest son of a **** they have ever made, cause i speak for a lot of ST-1 owners when i say, They have got some big shoes to fill!!!

I am sure that TTR and AE where working together on the RC8. It is for marketing reasons that the RC8 has been labeled AE. It just sells better with AE on it. The drivetrain of the RC8 is the same as the ST-1! TTR's input has made the RC8 a good buggy and it is because of the high TTR quality standards that everybody had to wait so long for the introduction of the RC8. Buth the RC8 has still not met the quality of TTR. I hope and are more or less convinced that a RC8T will be a improved ST-1 with some of the RC8 looks on it and some innovative improvements which will make it the truggy to beat. Hopefully I can start 2009 with a RC8T.
By the way I drive a Kyosho Inferno st-RR and a ST-1 and they are both very competitive and equal. The ST-1 although has a very good cost/performance ratio. I think the best there is at the moment in the truggy-scene. The same for buggy's, the cost/performance ratio for the RC8 is very good. Although there it is a very close ratio-race between the Xray XB8ec, hyper 8.5 and RC8.

@Itchybitchum and other fellow-proud-st1 owners: The drivetrain of the RC8 is the same as the one in the st-1...... Team Associated with the help of TT only has to make the right improvements on the st-1, put AE labels on it and it will not only be a big marketinghit but also the most competitive and durable truggy on the market for the coming years. It should be named RC8-Tt, the 'T' will stand for tank and the 't' for truggy.

Was the RC8 and improved S3? Think about that. The ST-1 is a great platform but I think AE will design a new truggy from the ground up like the RC8.

No, EB4 & RC8 are different designs. But that doesn't mean that the RC8 is 100% AE. The RC8 is sharing the same drivetrain as the st-1 and that is also a part of the design.... So it is obvious that the R&D departments work closely together and that works out good. Innovative thinking of AE together with the knowledge of TT with 1:8, not to forget the input of some good teamdrivers and good stuff TT already has in stock will make a truggy to wait for.
