I am vcery impressed with most of you! ALL of you are better than me.

Is there a good online tutorial on how to do this three D stuff. Or how do you take a 3 view and turn it into a model.

I have TurboCad version 8 which has a tutorial but is is short and I dont want to design a house or lawn mower.

Thanks,
Mike

Here's how I do it. (I don't use TurboCad, but 3D is 3D, more or less... Just "press different buttons".)

what size is your print out? do you have a large printer or a local upsize one. also how many hours did you spend programming it?. I am of the old school, pencil, calculator, paper and lots of erasers, also too old at 79+ too learn, this hunt and peck is my limit, but hasn't stopped my scratch building of giants from small 3 vus. dick

Included in the last update to my 3D software ("Carrara Studio 3" ) were some nice lighting and rendering improvements.
Here's one I did recently.

Here is a model that was made by myself and another UC Davis student, Nghiem Do. I work in Cobalt 5 and Nghiem works in Solid Works. It's a gearbox we designed for our SAE AeroDesign competition airplane. The gearbox was machined by Nghiem, Marion Fournier and Geoffrey Marmonier.

Specifications:

Webra 90
reduction 4:1
weight is just over a pound.
30-15 prop

We build everything in our student shop. It runs like a clock.

Daniel
