rc-monster.com has a motor mount and battery trays (if needed). You can also get more info from the forums there. That site specializes in nitro-electric conversions.

What motor depends on how many volts you want to pump through it.
In general for the CRT.5:
- 2s lipo or 6-7 nimh cells ..... 4000-5000 kv motor
- 3s lipo or 9-10 nimh cells .... 3000-3500 kv
- 4s lipo or 12+ nimh cells.... 1800 - 2700 kv

Most people I know run 3s lipos with a low kv motor, since it keeps the heat down, but 2s systems work very well too. I run 2s with a Lehner Basic XL 4200 in mine. I see speeds of 38-40mph with 16/46 gearing.

Here is a link to play with. It will help you decide on a motor.

I bought this conversion off ebay for like $65 delivered. It works nice. The battery compartment definitley could be better, but for the whole deal coming for $65, I wasn't complaining.

I use a Novak 6.5 GTB system. I could probably use the 5.5 or 4.5 for the big tracks. The 6.5 was maxed, but still was fine. The small tracks I have more than enough motor. But if I had to do it over again, I don't think I would have spent $250 on the Novak system. The Mamba Max cheap and used on ebay for $150ish is what I would do, or recommend. But...mine is super nice and runs super cool.

I seriously love this truck. There isn't a class at my track though, and I'm not sure there ever will be. So I race it with 1/8 nitros and do well. Or I occasionally run 1/10 truck too. I did race it in a 1/8 truggy class a few weeks back and finished 3rd. But I got my steering servo taken out on the last lap by those bullies. That was a little rough on me.

The empty spot up front is where my transponder goes. I loaned it out before this pic.

I pretty much use this truck as my backup if my 8ight or 1/10 scale breaks. They'll let me pull it out and still race. I love the thing!!

BTW, this thread needs to be in a different catagory. This is for mini's. just a heads up.

I am actually into not that bad (compared to my bigger cars that is, not mini's). The Roller Kit is like $250, the conversion was $65, MaxAmps 2S 6000 battery $120, Novak 6.5 GTB System $240 new (but I'de consider a cheaper used Mamba system), and my Futaba reciever $85. JR DS9411SA Digital Mid SA Servo $80

Dang....I never added that up before. $860

This car though, in no way shape or form has mini handeling characteristics. Like I said....I can race with 8th scalers and fair ok. I race with 10th scale trucks as well. I wish there was a class, and there are actually a lot of people at my track that have them. We just don't bring them all at the same time. Oh well.....I just use it as my backup car in case the others break and I don't have to pack up and go home.

That all said.....I frigging love this car!! It is soooo fun to drive!!

Hope this helps if anyone's thinking about one.

Who did you buy the conversion kit from on Ebay?

I have practiced with them before with me using the vendetta ST.... the vendetta is just as fast and capable,,, but the crt can handle the rough stuff better,,, and is accepted more than 18th scales

Accepted....yes. If my 8ight or XXX-T cr goes down, they don't frown on it too bad if I whip out the CRT.5 and race that in it's place of the broken car. The Vendetta at that point isn't even an option. I think they'de say no.

I would love a small class out here, but it seems more popular back east where you guys all have indoor tracks (which seem pretty fun to me). So smaller venue equals smaller cars. There's nothing small out here. CRT.5 is as small as it gets.

This guy is who I bought my kit from. He has upgraded the battery holder since mine you see above (I have the new one on order). My old holder worked, but I had a little zip tie routine. This is much cleaner.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ofna-crt-5-gas-to-brushless-conversion-kit-jammin-rc_W0QQitemZ280174555352QQihZ018QQcategoryZ34063QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

As far a the servo mentioned above, you could get the cheaper HiTec HS-5245MG that I have had great luck with. Just remember to really back out that servo saver spring, AND use the recall spring that OFNA offers with a new kit (people were blowing through servos like crazy at first....the new RTR actually accepts a full size now with a slightly bigger chassis). This may be an option...buy the RTR, then hawk all the gas parts on ebay. It's crazy but the RTR is better. Seems liked it got all the refinments. But not sure about the small odds and end parts. That may still be differnt.

Another note.......my GTB system is pretty dang fast. Not as fast as the 1/8 scalers, but definitley faster than 19T truck. In the middle somewhere and it runs SUPER COOL!! I am NEVER wrenching on my eCRT.5 which makes it easy to like.

One more thing....you will have to get this and mod it a hair to fit. The original is real clackity and people called me the blender until I did this:

Hope this helps.

i might try to get one in a few months.... since socal raceway is closing down,, and i wont have a dedicated place to race the vendetta.. i would like to go out and get something that will be more at home on larger tracks.. the vendetta has already proven itself.. but i need something that will be easier for me to drive

i would love to race my vendetta against a nitro crt.5 ,, on a smooth large track.. from what i have seen the driving characteristics of both cars are about the same..

I've seen your track Jae and it is ULTRA smooth. If I had a track like that I would LOVE to drive my Detta. You take that thing anywhere with a bit of texture and forgettaboutit. The eCRT.5 can handle a pretty rough track and it has hella ground clearance. It took me awhile to balnce the suspension right. It inherantly likes to nose dive. I've got a nice setup now. Raced against the Truggys on a huge rough track 2 weeks ago and got 3rd out of 9. For the most part they were all clearly faster than me, so I had to take the patient route and not wreck, and weave in and out of thier wreckage.

Point is.....the crt is the smallest car out there that can still hang with the best of them. If I had a faster motor, I would have been right there. But I don't plan on racing that class all the time, so my 6.5 is a perfect motor for everything else (smaller tracks). Man I seriously wish there was a dedicated class for the CRT.5.

I'd have to agree that the crt.5 and vendetta ST share a lot of handling characteristics.... i.e. they both handle awesome. You're going to be really happy when you get one of these.
