I hope everyone doesn't think this question is redundant but I can't decide. I've read everything mentioned on this forum about the two, read the manuals and watched the videos. I'm upgrading from a Tribute, I just want something bigger and badder. I enjoy 3-D flying the most.

if more 3D, then the Yak is the one...

I Love my Fusion, but it is a bit different... I can go through my IMAC pattern, then do some great 3D
it is a bit of a crossover...... it 3D's GREAT!!! but it is not a "fun fly" type 3Der
for all out "Fun Fly" 3D than the yak may be the one....

If you enjoy 3D the most then go with the YAK. I have a 67" Fusion and a 65" Yak 54 (the predecessor to the SP55M). The Fusion as capable of more "freestyle" aerobatics but for 3D fun you won't go wrong with the Yak. The SP 55M is an awesome bird! I had the pleasure of flying the OMP prototype of the SP55M with a 91FX and it was great. I will be assembling a new SP55M with an OS 1.20 AX which should be a real blast! My best advice is to get one and start flying. You will not be disappointed!

Good Luck!

might want to build the kit too....

they are EASY builds... my Fusion went together very well.... and quickly....

it is really nice to fly something that you built yourself

(Jeffro, which field do you fly at? I have flown at an IMAC event at a Hamilton field the last couple of years and it was TOP NOTCH!!)

I fly at The Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club site just NE of Hamilton www.gcrcc.net

You are likely refering to the Hamilton Area Wireless Kontrol Society (HAWKS) field next to Joyce Park in Hamilton

We are about 15 minutes from the HAWKS field

Wow...thanks for the great response. From what I've seen and the info in this forum I'm really sold on OMP. I'm gonna sleep on it and order one of them tomorrow. thanks

Jeffro...one question, What would you describe as "freestyle" aerobatics?

I'll chime in with my definition of freestyle. 3d is almost all stalled wing maneuvers where freestyle is 3d combined with pattern and precision maneuvers. An example would be a square loop, followed by a slow roll, followed by a waterfall into a hover.

That sounds like my style of flying. I would guess that the Fusion would turn slower doing a waterfall than the Yak because it's a little longer. Would it be correct in assuming the Fusion would hover a little easier because it's longer?

Not really no. Hovering depends a lot on tail surface area and overall balance. I'm sure both planes will hover just fine though.

Bingo guys, great descriptions of both planes and styles of flying. This is exactly what my intention was in designing these birds. The Edges and Yaks are pure 3D fun fly planes and the Fusions are my freestyle (pattern and 3D) flying planes.

I'll probably end up with both planes eventually but I'm going to try the Yak first with an O.S. 1.20ax. Thanks for the response.
