PIC 1is how I finnished off the elevator wire tubes . mixed up some 30 min epoxy with micro balloons real thick and formed it to my liking.
Pic2 shows the result.
On my next one i think I will make a small epoxy mold to do this that way I can make it look real nice. I like the way it came out .could have been netter though.

Hey Large Lineman, looks like you have built a million of these in the past. I think building fiberglass kits are one faster and two lighter than regular built up construction with balsa only plus you have a little more freedom when painting. I saw you have been talking to flyinmike. He knows his smoke when it comes to building either way. Greg also has a nice 40 size Miss Los Angles which I built about eight years ago. A really nice flyer and good looking to boot. Well keep up the good work and keep us posted on the build.

What paint are you using?? Looks good. I'm going to give the Klass Kote A try. A friend has been using it and gives it very high marks. I looked it up on the net and for the price it should paint the plane for me.

Thanks for the words Buddy.
Greybeard I used the ultracoat brand paint in the spray cans. Suppose to match up with the covering but it lacks a bit there. Overall I am satisfied with the results. I learned one thing though , don't use newspaper the mask off anything . I sprayed the white first and let it dry 2 days before I masked it off to do the blue. Well this type paint "skins over" to touching strength in a few hours. so I didn't leave the newspaper on no longer than that .Well I peeled it off and got a nice line except where the paper touched the white I now have print on the white part. but its no big deal I thing I can fix it. I never heard of the paint you talked about but on my next plane I will use it. sounds like it is very glo resistant. THe paint I used does take along time to cure . about a week or so .

That's why I asked. I can build and cover with the best of them but when I have to paint it looks like A kid in grade school did it. I use the top flight and Ultra paints often and discovered if I didn't use there primer then it tended to peel with the masking tape. www.klasskote.com and it's A pretty good site and A lot of info on there paint plus the prices. As A 50/50 mix you don't have to buy too much though. Be ware, I had two colors in mind but my wife looked at the site and now it's going to be different then what is in my minds eye. I'm color blind so I don't really care as long as I can see it in the air.
My hope is this paint will make me look better then what I have been putting out over the years. I really do stink at painting.

I used a 2 part primer that I got from the auto paint store. The stuff is great not cheep but goes on and sands nice. It is a epoxy type primer that works with nearly all paint. seams like I paint better than covering. I guess I need to move where you are and we build planes together :-) .I have nt figured out how I am going to do the checkers on the cowel heck I may leave them off and put them on the rudder only.

Will do Bob.
I have done a little bit of changes. I smoked the canopy with Pactra spray tint in a small rattle can. results are nice. I took off the striping on the wings and have decided to got to the auto parts store for some pinstriping. And I have the Zenoah g20 on order should be here by saturday. I hope I have not messed up with it. If I get it I will have some pics to post tomorrow.
