I have the plans and gear for the Ziroli Stearman (I already have the ribs cut). I also have the plans for the Hostetler Liberty Sport. Both plans are about the same size. The Liberty Sport is 76.5" and the Stearman is 77". I am interested in hearing from anyone who has built either plane and is willing to share building tips and flying experiences. I have a Zenoah G62 that I plan to power the project with. If I build the Stearman as a "Super" do you think it will be as aerobatic as a Liberty sport? Either plane should weigh about 20# I think.

I can not comment on the Liberty Sport, but Nick's 77" stearman is a great flier.

It is not 100% scale, he moved the bottom wing back by about 1" to improve its flyability.

Stick with the Stearman. I just sold my Liberty Sport last month at the Perry Ga. swapmeet and did not shed any tears when it went to another owner. Never did like that plane.

Was the Liberty sport the Sig it or the Hostetler plan? What kind of servos were you using and what engine did it have? What did't you like about it?

I'm Going to build both planes. I'm going to put my G38 in the Stearman and I'm going to put my G62 in the Liberty Sport! If it has enough power and the right control throws why wouldn't the Liberty sport fly well? I'm going to put a pitts style muffler on it with smoke, I may even put the remote starter on it!

Hey Bill, do you think a US41 would be enough power for the Liberty?
