Is a Picco 28 (ps version) just a stupid engine to have in a truggy?? I want a screamer, but imagine this Picco to just be all torque and a diff-destroyer...

the picco will be all torque, keep in mind though that dyno tests have shown the picco to haver more power then the LRP at all RPM's, but the LRP is smoother so feels more powerful, if you want awesome power you could look into the AB modded picco .21 evo2, he also recans the GO tec .21 7 port are up with the v spec and RB both unmodded and modified in power and smooth delivery of that power.

Well, the thing is, with this new Hyper I got, I want to do it right.. I bought the Picco for my LST2, but don't feel like messing with the LST2 right now..

And the Mach I got for the Hyper doesn't fit, so that's out for the time being..

I don't think the Picco would be the right engine for the Hyper.

Right now my thoughts are, LRP out of the Muggy into the Hyper, and then either the new Mach into the Mug, or maybe the Picco with Ofna 086.. I'm really inclined to sell the Picco though, cuz it would really only be ideal in my LST2.., and right now my attention is much more focussed on the Muggy and Hyper...

If I got a 21 it would prob be the Picco Evo2... But yeah, then there's another €100 for starter box and bats... If I sold the Picco though, I'd make a profit and then could get what I really want - the OS 28..

All the wheelin' and dealin' is a PIA, but I want the Hyper done right....

go bumpstart.... then the world of motors opens up for you....the OS 28 is going to be balls out insane....I will post dyno charts between Pico 28 and OS 28 for reference.

FYI it seems XRC's tests lately have been giving motors soem bigger numbers..a Ninja 28 tested in XRC at 1.98 HP and 78 oz/in..... Adam from AB tested a Ninja 28 as 1.6-1.7 HP stock..and 1.9 modified....So the new OS 28 isnt really anything that crazy if the Ninja is right on its tail..in fact the Ninja actualy makes alot stronger top end then the OS, XRC even commented how the Ninja had a much broader power curve then the OS they tested................ Its funny, but i looked at the Specs of the OS 28 before it was released, and based off its geometry I predictd it would have a little more punch then the NInja, but would fall short on the top end... which i was right about LOL...Short stroke vs long stroke...

Oh and based off these dyno graphs the Picco 28 actualy has better top edn then the OS.... that darn Picco is making good power up at 40K..

I think you're right.. If I want to do this Hyper ST right, it's time to face up to having to get a bump box...

So what I should do is sell the Picco and get a bump-box and bats.. And the diff leave in the bank account for a change..., OR put in a savings box for the OS 28, which I wouldn't break in til the spring anyway.....

HA!!..

That's like talking to a guy lying in a hospital bed who nearly just ate himself to death, and saying "don't be lame, here eat this XXXL foot-long sub...."

JK.. But seriously..., I've gone from major guilt trip for spending €500 on a toy truck Savage 25 RTR, to now having FOUR full-on RC's.. It's winter here too, so no real driving possibilities til March or so...

Come on global warming.....

Just for fun(and a typical winter question..), how does the Picco Evo 2 .21 compare to 1.) the Picco 28 ps version I now have, and 2.) an OS V-SPEC??? And, well, anything else you want to compare it to...

if your looking to bash and/or race, the .28 is the way to go. if your looking to strictly race, the .21 is what most will say is the way to go but I love the .28s anyday. A .21 thats effective in a truggy to compete with .28s will cost a bunch more than a nice .28 for a truggy from what I seen on the market and in the races.

a Jammin JPX 21 for $229.00 will take out pretty much any and every 28 you put it against...... though before I say that I also gotta say it really depends on what truggy your using... in a Mugen 5T, X-Ray XT8, or Losi 8T a .21 like a JPX will usualy almost always beat a .28 like a LRP Spec 3 or Picco 28 or Nova 528...the lighter Truggies gearing and avaialble traction work much better with a .21........................a heavy truggy like a CRT or a CEN Matrix usually can use the torque of a .28 a little better, they have more mass to plant the extra power....................... This summer I ran a Hyper St with a V-Spec and it hauled ass pretty good, every bit as fast as any normal .28 I have seen......

As a rule .28's dont make enough power in the upper RPM ranges, their powerbands fall off pretty badly on top end, whereas a .21 seems to make good power over a much longer RPM range........ in the end side by side there isnt as much difference as one would expect......... So even though I love big powerful motors, I am currently running .21's for both bashing and racing.................... But also to consider is the $220.00 Picco P7R or Jammin JPX have one of the broadest strongest powerbands available from any offroad .21 regardless of price.... These motors are unreal for the money
