If it flies I'll get the book on my 6dxi out and read up on channel mixing. I know I should be able to mix the gear channel with the throttle so they will all work together. The only weight added are the two stock hyperflow fans and the stock diablo ESC along with about 1/2 ounce in the nose to level out the CG. I may be back at my LHS picking up a new Fuse Tuesday morning when they open but if it flies it should be impressive looking and sounding.

Status: offline 		Well that was interesting. The stryker flew with the three fans. Not alot more speed but a little. I didn't add anything to the brushed fans as far as length to the fan unit so I know it could be better. The added weight made the stryker almost impossible to glide without power. I pretty much had to fly it to the ground then kill power and flare right before impact to slow it down. I ordered a fan and motor off of Ebay. It's coming from japan so I'm not sure how it will be. Here is all of the specs it has.

Thanks but I don't need another Diablo. If I were going to buy another I would buy one from Tower scratch and dent for $80 bucks. I'll stick with the stryker. I ordered a new fuse and fins today for a whopping 23 bucks. Cheap way to experiment.

Status: offline 		Has anyone been able to cut the foam in stock wings and make ailerons... i know on u tube i see flaps added and ailerons added to parkzone foam planes like the super cub and t28...if anyone can post pictures and instructions maybe i'll just keep my diablo...The mod wing with airlons is just to hard for a beginner to handle but stock wings with ailerons should be awsome..thanks greg

why don't you just fly your diablo with the trailer wings and after a few flights when you feel you're ready, upgrade to the advanced wings. Install a BL in the meantime and it will fly decent. Hopefully you have a radio that doesn't glitch. Gary

Even without alerions the diablo fly's fairly well. It doesn't have great speed but if you are a beginner you don't want alot of speed. Even flying with just rudder will go a long way in preparing you for alerions. Iwould recomend flying it untill it is destroyed beyond repair then purchase a T-28 Trojan or similiar to learn the alerions. My son is learning now on a Super Cub which is 3 channel and I plan to move him up to a trojan afer a few more flights.

Status: offline 		in the spirit of experimenting, I attached my brushed fan to the diablos belly, setup everything, put two batteries in the nose, and tossed it, it did fly around the field once then I landed it unintentionally, I think it woulda flown but it was raining and I didnt want it to get too wet, needless to say I put it back to the single XF setup...fun experiment though, felt WAY WAY to heavy to fly but she did...crazy stuff...I am planning out a stryker at the moment...just dunno when I'll get to it, considering buying a new motorcycle right now so I dunno...

Status: offline 		hi,reguarding your sons 3 channel super cub ...is the elevater and rudder on the right stick like an aileron plane? if so i may buy one...i am returning this plane as even the esc is not turning the moter all it has is elivator and rudder..also the antena won't scew on as it was loose and something is rattling inside like where its supposed to connect broke off... all in all i think the diablo is a pretty crappy plane so far,and i'll bet it will be dicontinued soon...I hear parkzone planes are much better then flyzone...thanks

I had the same antenna problem with a daiblo I bought from scratch & dent. I opened up the radio and saw that the plastic mount where the antenna screws into was broken off. I fixed it by placing the antenna into position and then used electrical tape to secure it. I was always careful not to push/pull the antenna with much force. If you can return it, I would.
What do you mean the esc is not arming the motor?

Status: offline 		yes the esc red light goes on but messed with it a bunch and the motor wont turn over at all... i have several electric cars, two helis and 2 elec boats with esc's with no problems...in the instructions i saw nothing rearding esc programing,so i assumed it was a plug and play...anyway im send it back ,will call tower tommorrow...the only thing i like about this plane is the lipo pack it came with...

Status: offline 		I have been reading all these opinions on this thread and would agree with most of them, I do have to say that at this point in the game I have gotten my diablo to fly quite nicely, all it took was a brushless, a new radio, switching the motor to the top and a bigger battery. So basically the only thing left is the fuselage and wings, advanced wings, which are the only way to go.
Ailerons on the stock wings would be nice too, much more lift. But, if they had ailerons they would need to be strengthened alot because you all know that a good steep dive and recovery would spell the end for that plane.

Status: offline 		I have been thinking about it, the ailerons on the stock wing thing. What if the flaps for the ailerons were not part of the actual wing but instead affixed to the trailing edge of the wing,(the back of the wing). That way the strength of the wing would not be compromised by cutting into it to make room for the flaps? Servos would however be imbedded in the wing, but would that small amount of wing removed for the servos make a weak spot? and what are some ways to strengthen the wing? any ides please share them. Your all a pretty ingenious bunch so lets try to put our heads together. I would use the flaps and servos from a set of crashed advanced wings.

Yes the elevator and rudder are on the right stick. If you have never flown before I highly recomend the supercub. It is a very forgiving plane to learn on. With the stock battery and light breeze it's off the ground in about 10 ft. I actually lined up my sons for final this weekend in a 5-6mph breeze and cut throttle, the plane made a perfect landing with no other input to the sticks. On my sons first attempt at flying he took off, flew a couple of circuits around the field, did 3 or 4 loops and a perfect landing. He had a few hours on a simulator but never actually flew a real plane. The Cub comes with the ACT (anti crash technology) which I highly recomend leaving turned off as it has caused as many crashes as it's saved. Once you feel comfortable with the stock cub you can either upgrade to an 8 cell nimh or a 11.1v lipo as I did and really get some nice flying. It is also fairly easy to add alerions if you pick up another radio somewhere. The DX10 parkzone radios are pretty nice and you can usually fine one someones pulled out of a stryker or trojan on ebay for 30-45 dollars. I actually have one I'm going to be listing sometime next week that has never been used. Take a look at the Supercub thread and you'll see what a great plane it is. I know people who have flown for years that have one just to buzz around the field for a stress free afternoon of flying.

I don't believe cutting alerions into the stock wings would do much for weakening it. The servo however is a different story. I don't have a fuse here to look at right now but I think I would consider cutting the alerions all the way on the inside of the wing and possibly mount the servos in the fuse. i would also make the alerions fairly long
