Tell me, what differences will I notice switching from the 4040 to this larger motor, I would think more torque.

Status: offline 		North:Nevermind, I found it. But will that esc hook up to the motor or do I need a special size of adapters to go from the esc to motor? are they the same size as for the 20-40?

Yes, the esc leads and the motor leads are both 3.5mm bullets. Plug-n-Play my friend. The difference between the 20-40-4040 and the 24-45-3790 is slight. What would make a bigger difference is the EDF itself. The hyperflow is just not going to put out much thrust or super high speed passes. It just wasn't designed to be that way. It's good for small park flyer planes only. The 3790 will handle more amps and I think that is what your after right?

Status: offline 		Nice song! and cool plane also. It reminds me of a 3d plane the way it just hangs there in the air and I like how it can land on a dime.
I may not need to get this bigger motor after all, I was on this other thread and learned that you were right about the motor drawing the power not the battery pushing it upon the motor, so it seems either I had a bad motor or as it was explained to me that a prop which was too large was used, but since its only a small edf fan I dont think its the latter. I will go to my lhs tommorrow and get a replacement. It would make sense that the motor was bad since the esc was still good and I had gotten many flights out of this motor in the past.

Status: offline 		the edf impeller may be small compared to a prop but it has 5 very steep pitched blades, so its kind of decieving in that sense, the XF fan seems to rev alot easier with its 3 bladed impeller and I was conserned about it having enough thrust but to my suprise it had more so I would suggest it, I like the fan itself better, just seems better made, and the 20-40-4040 will fit right in, you just need to find a prop adapter that fits the impeller and your 2.3mm shaft, if your LHS has some you could probably just hold up the impeller and see if it looks right, I just found one I had laying around and gave it a try...I'll take it off tonight and take pictures of how its on there...

Status: offline 		I am gonna get an XF fan Im gonna order it tonight, I went to my lhs today but the owner was not there I told my story to the person there and dropped off the motor he's gonna call me tommorrow.
I also asked about a wattmeter.

Status: offline 		Just got a wicked extreme and an XF fan ordered, now I will get a new esc from my lhs tommorrow and we shall see what becomes of this little endeavor. I think I'll get the electrifly ss-45 do you all agree or do you have any suggestions.

Status: offline 		yeah the wattmeter is a good idea, I should really ahve one as well but so far I am not pushing anything so I really havent had the need...the motor may get replaced for free, greatplanes is usually really good about that...heres pics of my impeller setup...

Status: offline 		the extreme probably doesnt have connectors, order some or pick some up that match your ESC then solder them to the motor wires...forgot also the XF fan should have an adapter that will work with the extreme, the prop adapter is just a solution when using a motor with a 2mm shaft...

If I remember coreclty the wicked extreme comes with bare leads. You'll need to solder 3.5mm bullets onto them. Also for your ESC, look at the Thunderbird 54. It's comparable in price, gives you more amps and is made by Castle Creations so you know it good quality.

The Wicked Extreme will bolt right to the XF Fan. It doesnt get any easier.
