Im glad you think it should be a feasable set up Im of the belief that you should be able to go outside the makers recommendations at least a little.

And if you put flying turd on yours will you paint it brown? perhaps some corn decales or peanuts. ha!

Animal acker, you'll be fine with the 1500mha; I have flown the original 1500, a quality 1650, and cheapo-chinese 2200mHa. All worked fine.

Interestingly enough, in an unscientific manner, I have not noticed glitches since the brushless up grade. Mark-my-words: It was the ESC causing trouble!

So, with the new BL upgrade and the 30ampESC I have not noticed glitches. but then again I do have horrible vibration at mid throttle.

I tried a new rotor and it did not help. My guess is that my Hyperflow unit has been through so much that it is not balanced. I have removed melted palstic a few times after crashes and mis-adventures. I bet that is the cause.

Lastly, luckily, the vibration occurs at around 20-35000 RPM, so as long as I'm willing to goose-it to 45,000+ it sounds clean, I just wonder how long the gear wil hold up?

Lots of fun, lots of tinkering, that's what it's about, right?

Erik: On my old hyperflow The main frame which the moto screwed on to was broken and beaten, the connectors or fins that held the mounting portion of the hyperflow were cracked and chipped yet after tightening my mounting screws I had no vibration and the glitches that I do get are in the throttle area with the old and the new brushless esc. Sometimes thing just are weird ya know.

North: Thats hilarious, I used to work at ups and often thought the trucks looked like that.
I saw the f-15 from e-flite, it's big! But exactly what I want only maybe the size of the diablo, does something like this exist?
Or maybe a f-22. I gotta go my girlfriend is yellin" at me. ( shes jealous of the plane hehe!)

Have had my Diablo up on 3 flights with the single pack. Did not have a CG issue with mine. Did seem to have tx/rx issues during the first flight. Switched tx/rx to Spectrum and had had no further problems. Was hard trimming in the rudder to make nice turns. Flew well, was slow but after adjustments it was ok flying. Landings are challenging with the single engine pod. Nose has a tendancy to dig into the ground. Flew with the duel pack a few days ago. Aircraft flew about 40 feet before hitting the ground. It wasn't damaged. I had added some light weight helo skids under the pod to land on.

Wickell: what wings are you using stock or advanced? Either way it doesn't matter. Throw that dual pod away and go brushless or go home!
You will be so much more happy.

North: I saw those nitro planes Yeah their nice too, they say they have a rudder but I dont see one, the verticals look solid to me.
And the f-19, WOW thats a pretty penny but its nice. Turbo brushless? whats that? Just bigger or more powerful insides?

And hows your set up, fast or what?

Got the new Diablo in today. It was in as good of shape as the new one I bought at my LHS. Stuck the pod on my old fuse with the new wings and checked the cg. Perfect at 2 5/16" Both batteries charged now I just need the wind to die down so I can decide if I'm gonna re-build the old pod brushless or hand it to my son and order me a new electristar.

wickell: Throw away the dual pod or sell it on ebay or something.

Do you know about installing your motor on top of the fuse? Saves hassles when trying to land. Check out this vid:

animal: I have no idea what they mean by turbo brushless. The description is vague. Could be just a marketing ploy so they can charge $500 you know what I mean.

I have not had much time to work on my Diablo lately. I am waiting for another Diablo I ordered from scratch & dent to come in along with my upgrades. I've been pretty slow on upgrading my plane with go-fast stuff. I also just got a Multiplex Funjet that I hope to get up and flying soon. I will let you know how this motor combination I bought works out.

Has anyone tried these recivers with another transmitter? My 3rd scratch and dent diablo showed up and my fourth will be here soon so I'm getting quite a colection of these crap radios. I use a Hitec Laser 4 in the one I fly but my buddy is using one of these radios in his slowstick and it is pretty glitchy. Spare micro recivers woud be nice if the transmiter was the problem. Of the two I've flown already the second one was realy badly balanced (way too much paint on the tail) had to move the esc and reciver almost up to the battery. This latest one seems to have less paint on the fuselageand should require less moving stuff to balance. I've read that these dont like wind but I'd have to disagree I live on the coast so waiting for calm days isn't an option and I find these boring in less than 10mph. They're a blast when the small craft advisorys come out. Anyways heres some videos of mine, I fly hard and crash harder and this is a cheap fun way to do it. http://www.youtube.com/user/BCBasher

the tactic is same kind of radio that is used in the aze-ex helicopter. i've switched out the crystals in the receiver to match up with my futaba 4ex tx and it works just fine.

Northchim: My compliments to you for your idea of mounting on top. Today I flew my diablo with the new set up, Motor on top but I took apart the pod, cut the styrofoan down to a smaller peice. Used two hyperflow edf's one to house the motor the other I gutted and glued to the back of the first to act like a continuation of the unit and installed one of those stators within. gorilla glued the edf to the styro mount and secured the styro mount to the plane with a couple of zip ties. Turns out it works great. Much improvement, I also painted the top of the plane black. Not so good. I have trouble telling where its pointing sometimes, I'll paint the tail orange. I dont have a radar gun but I know that its quick! I will try to post some photos to better show how Ive done this.
