Hi y'all

I wanted to grab some ideas from all of you in regards to putting a event on. I have this crazy idea of running a event in California next year possibly around a three day weekend for a massive race. Event may take four days to complete. When I say massive, I am looking at something that would attract 200 pilots. I am trying to figure out if this is possible. I hold races that have 40 pilots on average and fly 4-5 rounds with sport aircraft in one day. I am looking towards more sport classes than anything. I was trying to figure out how to run multiple courses together such as a AMA course, a 700' pylon course, and a 1800' course. I think I may have the room at a particular site.

The classes I am looking at would be qm-40, Quickee 500 and APRA Quickee, World Models T-34's, World Models Warbirds, Sport Warbird Unlimited, SWRA knock off rules, World Models Giant Scale Warbirds, and maybe a few classes of Giant Scale. The one key thing would be that I would need the organizations that hold such races like Nmpra or USRA run their teams to make sure everything for each type of race is done safely and correctly. I have not contacted neither such organization to even see if this is possible. I would promote the race, organize the event and make sure everything runs smoothly.

The big question is how to mix such different type of racing. I think the biggest thing to do is to alot times and that each type of racing runs for 2-3 hours and then switches courses. One course would have to be set-up/torn down to allow the next. The two pylon 1800' course would remain up at all times. The #1 pylon for AMA racing would be a existing pylon. The other two would have to be taken up and down as the races are ran. The other type of racing uses two pylons on a 700" course that would take 5 minutes to move around.

Why do I want to run a big event. People!!!!I want lots of racing.

The bigger the event, the more sponsors and better prizes for everyone.

So the question is, would you come to a event such as this if it is possible? Do you have any ideas? I know that everything has to be run by AMA but lets think that all the course layouts are there and AMA is behind it 100%.

The other thing is, what would it be worth for pilots to fly for 4 days, and see all diferent aspects of racing? Entry fees would be a little higher than usual but you would receive four days of racing and also, there would be lots of prizes and maybe cash purses. Let me know what you think!!!!

That would be a big event alright!

My suggestion for Q40, 428 and 424 APRA Race portion of this event,,, Starting with ch.13, counting by 3's to the end. These frequencies should be aloted to the above mentioned. Each freq will have a max of 4 entries per channel. This is how its done at the NATS

NO 2 fequecies should be allowed in GSR, T34, Warbird and Pylon (422, 428, 424) in the event that you are planning to run multiple Races at the same time within your site. Frequency Control will be one of your Biggest Challenges!!!

To run 50 pilots in the above 3 classes (422, 428, 424) will take the better part of ALL Day flying 5 rnds with a small break for lunch.

2 one day Races is more realistic,,, 3 or 4 day is gonna be hard to do,,, due to peoples work schedules and travel (???)

I hope that helps a bit
