Ordered the Yak today, just wondering what servos would be a good match and what other people are using. I've got 4 DS821's that came with my DX7 but they are a little weak at 88oz @6.v .15 sec.

Minimum 80 to 90oz. I'm looking for something over 100oz, some Hitecs have been recommended but I haven't had good luck with Hitec in my 1/8 scale buggies.

Does anyone know what servos were used in the 65' Yak on OMP's video?

Hitec 645MGs are 133 oz/in torque and a great servo! I use Hitec for just about everything and have had tremendous success with them. I'm pretty sure the 645MGs are what are in the OMP yak in the video. They also have the 5645MG which is the DIGITAL version of the servo but the'll run you $10 to $15 more a piece. Check out www.servocity.com they usually have good deals on the Hitecs. I'm using 645MGs and an OS 1.20 AX for my 65" OMP Yak!

It's true that buggies are hard on servos. I'll look at the Hitecs again, maybe I just got a bad one. Thanks for the servocity link.

I too never like Hitec for 1/8 scale racing. I really like them for planes though and have had nothing but good luck. The 5645 would be the perfect servo for that plane I would think.

I love Hitec servos and use pretty much exclusively Hitecs. They pretty much make a servo for any application and have been very reliable for me. For the 65" Yak pick a servo that gives you at least 90 oz of torque per surface. Go with analog or digital depending on how much you want to spend. The coreless servos offer much faster speed and you will notice this quite a bit in 3D flying.

Hitec is getting alot of good response. It looks like the ultimate Hitec servo would be the HS-5965MG. 134oz .10sec @ 6v. coreless. I'll probably give them a try, found them on the bay for $75. I think my JR 821 should be fine for the throttle.

The 821 is probably a bit overkill for the throttle. Use what you have though I guess.

Hitec choices in order would be the 645MG at 133 oz/.20 sec, 965MG at 138 oz/.10 sec, 5625MG at 130 oz/.14 sec, or the 5965MG at 138 oz/.10 sec

I agree my choices would be the 965 or 5965. I swap so many servos around I can't remember what is in my 65Yak or Fusion right now but I know they are a variety of the above. I still have a lot of 945MGs which were also really good. The 985s replaced the 945s.

I cut out the throttle servo hole and obviously see what you're talking about. I guess it's sized for a micro servo, I had a sub micro but it was too small. So what's a good servo for the throttle.

The hitec HS-85mg is a great choice but a bit spendy for what it is. There is also a futaba that is supposed to be good....the 3115 I think?
