mike....... regarding the elevator linkages, they are supposed to be parallel only if you are using 1" arms but i thought about using 1.25" arms.
on 1.25" arms i no longer get parallel linkages. one is straight and the other one is not. will the difference give me any problems? or should i use 1" arms and will that give me the throws required?

thanks

Ah the beauty of programmable radios should allow you to independently set the subtrim and endpoints so both sides match.

Mike what arms do you recomend for the servos, I used 1 1/2 arms on all servos except for the throttle and rudder. When building mine i modified the the servo locations in the fuse so the center of the hole on the arm at the end matched the plans. I think i had to move both servos 1/4 inch in opposite directions.

I will be building another Hybrid in a few weeks. I have a plane on my table right now that i have to finish up then i will start the hybrid. I think i will start up another thread in the Giant Scae and 3D Forum, when i start to buid that plane.

Craig, really sorry to learn you have crashed the Hybrid. I am finishing mine and already get nervous I am doing something wrong. It is my first big bird you know.

I would also want to know how to determine the size of the servo arms. I read somewhere to use 1" (2" total) arm for rudder at the servo side and 1.5" (3" total) at the rudder side. Is this OK?

I am about to start covering my Hybrid but it will take a while since I can only build a few hours during weekend.

Regards
Paul

I used a 3" servo arm on the servo for the rudder and crossed my cables then i had 3" from hole to hole at the rudder and worked very well.

I have not been able to check everything out on my plane pieces yet so i do not know what was the issue yet but i will let everyone know.

It's going to be hard to tell the left wing from the right wing isn't it? haha So is that clear covering on the fuse?

If you set you Cg, the wing incidence and the stab incidence, youare going to love this plane. You will end up on the back side of the CG for good 3d, when inverted the plane should stay at that altitude without falling, mine actually climbed at little bit when inverted and the plane hovered and harriered great.

Good luck on you maiden!!!

Here's what I've got so far. The fuse and tail are all done. All that is left to do is to cover the wings. Take a look a few pages back to see what look I am going for.

Also, I am waiting for UPS to deliver a Fromeco Wolverine switch for my dual A123s. The switch is actually two switches in one with a built in battery share system. And, it is failsafe. I got real nervous with all these Hybrids loosing control. Redundancy is what its all about.

My battery pack is actually two separate 2s A123 packs just shrink wrapped together for ease of use. Each pack has a single JR plug for discharge as well as balancing.

Mike,

Would it hurt anything to turn the elevator servos straight up and down in relation to the length of the fuse?

thats to avoid any confusion and thats clear on the fuse........... anyway, i've noticed 2 things, my pull pull cables are crossed and in neutral they are tight but at full deflection they are loose......if i push on the rudder it does not want to move back but why are the cables loose at full deflection? the other is the ailerons servo chatters because of the weight of the ailerons, if i hold the plane vertical the nose goes....is that ok?

Some people dont worry about slack on one side as long as they are tight at netural, I am anal about stuff like this if you want it right then this is what i do. Make sure your cables are the same at the servo and at the rudder if you have 3 at the servo you need 3 at the rudder, also i use a 3 inch SWB ofset servo arm for the rudder. The control horns should also be right on the hinge line where the pivot point on the rudder is.

You will have chatter on the aileron servos untill you get some wind across them to neturlize them.

hey guys. Are you enjoying your Hybrids? Mine has been sitting in the hangar waiting for nice weather. I haven't even had it outside yet.

Actually, you want the horn slightly BEHIND the hinge line on a pull-pull setup. Once I find the link explaining the physics I'll post it. I'm holding my 3-month old right now so...........

No, seeing that mine does not exist anymore. I do have another hybrid kit I'm getting ready to build. I will be doing a build thread on the giant scale forum to help out OMP on advertising.

Right on the hinge line for perfect geometry.
Craig. What happened?
